• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Well the story gos........

Went out for a good afternoon ride with a mate to a place we had made some new jumps and had just linked them all up to make a cool little single track with a few airs you could get around in about 30 seconds.(making it bigger slowly)

We decided to hit the hiway on the way back to get some breeze and cool down as we are riding in 30+ degrees (celseus), second to last corner and as i was going around about to straighten up put a little too much throttle and lost traction with the back and went flying and ended up with a broken wrist and torn ligaments in my shoulder.

after i got up off the road and went to the curb my mate picked up the bike and put it on the curb on the stand and took off to get his car to take my to the clinic to get patched up.

after i collected my thoughts i got on the bike and started to ride home, passing my mate on the way to my place to be greeted by my missus in tears after being call by my mate. after a shower i went to the clinic to get some medical treatment.

it was here the morphine started and cos we where remote i got a care flight to darwin (taking every percautuion with respect to spinal and neck injuries which i didnt have luckly). after a few x-rays the surgen said i was better to go to adelaide for treatment, so onto another plane this time Qantas straight to the specialist.

Next day i was in getting a plate and 9 screws in my wrist and starting my healing process.

lessons learnt
-nobbies and sealed road take more care
-dont break wrist as it will kill the riding for atleast 3 months:cry:
- always go riding with a friend as if i could ride it could of been very bad few hours walking.
- morphine and endone great for sleeping:banana:

PS I was wearing all the safety gear (knee braces, neck brace, boots, riding pants, jersy, gloves and of course a helmet)

Man, I know what it feels like.
I had my shoulder plated and screwed last year and it took me quite a while to start trusting my front end again.
Good luck with the recovery and get on the bike as as soon as possible.

Yep morphine is good (from experience)
I broke 4 ribs second week of January and re broke one last week (last one not with riding)

so for me its again wait for a 3 months before some training to the old form can start

the protection is so good that you only break things that are not protected :D

good luck with your recovery.

Good you are ok ... I'm not a DOC but it appears the small bones in the wrist itself are not broken ...That is a very good thing if true ... Those are the bones that are hard to heal and cause pain through out the rest of your life maybe ...

You got not one, but 2 airplane rides for this?

PS -- morphine was great in the civil war and today also, if you wanna be a zombie ....

As for me, picking bugs out of the air in a hospital smiling like a lunatic is not much fun! But you do forget about the pain:D Hope you heal up asap.

Man it sucks when this kinda crap happens**************************************** Please have a speedy recovery. Did a ACL to my shoulder in 04 or 05. That year I really could not ride much but within a year or so, was back haulin a__!! Do not rush the recovery and make sure your healed up nice before getting crazy! Good luck!!
