• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Round two of the "other" carb types - Lectron

Well I'm not going to claim that I can fill Walt's shoes, but I can tell you that the screws that I have seen are 6-32X1/2". I like metric threads for small fasteners and have been looking at tapping for them. The 6-32 thread though is just a bit larger (.005") than tap drill size for 4mm X .70mm, which is a common metric size for carb screws. Probably would work just fine though.

For what it's worth the Mikuni bowl screws and the slide top plate screws on my WR250 were standard threads.

That's interesting Doug, because the TMX that came on my 04 WR250 are M4 X .70 and I don't recall seeing standard threads on any Japanese carb. :excuseme:

..I was able to get 4mm screws at Home Depot...they were black allen heads with a 16 mm length. They also had the 4mm lock and flat washers. Thing is I don't know if they are available at all Home Depots.SCREW.JPG

10-32 standard were the bowl screws. I used a thread pitch guage and there was not a metric screw that better fit than the 10-32, I checked thoroughly because I refused to believe that Mikuni would use a standard thread.

The bowl screws will be M5 then. Like I said, they are practically interchangeable.

I just replaced the top screws on my new Lectron 38(thanks Kelly and Kevin for the quick replacement). They are 6-32 machine screws, not metric. I would think tapping them out to an M4 would be easy if you want to be consistant with your outdated/archaic standard carbs. :D Interesting as my initial 38mm needed to be leaned out only 1/2 turn. This one took 1 1/4 turns to make it completely crisp. The shorter spigot on the engine side took all the stress out of mounting as the boot no longer rubs on the shock. Also the adjustments that Kevin made to the carb holder netted about 3/4" of slack and by adjusting the top adjustment all the way out I was able to re-route the stock cable where I had it before with the stock carb. It is snug to be sure and I zip tied it in place so it can't pull it out of the carb. Still looking forward to the longer cable so I can route it better and no worries about pulling it out/stuck throttle.

The news of the Lectrons greatness would seem to have so far missed the UK shores so outdated/archaic carb sales have been going well :D
George from this forum bought a TMXX from me, a friend bought a PWK for his nephews 144 KX and one sold from eBay (not a lot of money:(lol)
My old Lectron now resides on a friends Husky and the space where a carb is ment to live on the WB165 is just rags stuffed into the boots :(
So after waiting 25 day for a new one to pop through the mail and nothing appearing it looks like I will have to order another one and will have to use a Tmxx for now or pull the 37mm from the 144:cry:
On the plus side the swelling around my broken toe has shrunk enough to get a pair of boots on in reasonable comfort and the bruising is on the way out

I have a Lectron on the way and in anticipation, I ordered a KTM throttle cable. Actually a Motion Pro 10-0056 which supposedly fits all KTM 2 strokes from 99-12 . Everyone says they are longer but don't mention a specific year or model. My Motion Pro is 3" shorter than the Husky cable. Unfortunately, I found out after I removed the Husky one. What am I missing? The Mikuni gods don't want me to have a Lectron is my guess.

After doing some reading in this thread, it is the consensus that the stock cable is "tight" even for the stock carb. Mine is anything but tight, I wonder if a longer cable got put on mine somehow at the dealership. :excuseme:

Got a new KTM one on the bench awaiting fitment and its 2" longer than the Husky item, BUT this is the 125 husky and I dont know if the other Huskys use the same cable !!

Cool then you should have zero issues.

It is my understanding that staring in 09 the 125 cables grew 2".

Exactly, my stock cable is plenty long, no worries here. Fits good. The only thing I'am worried about is the cable popping out of the top of the carb where it fits into the adjuster. It's a pretty short sleeve that the cable fits into compared to the Mikunii.

Bingo motion pro simple solution for such a great benefit of carb.only time well tell if it's the jetting solution

Got my Lectron today. Thanks, Kelly. Just finished installing it. It definitely was a bit more work than removing and reinstalling the TMXX. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't get it to fit without doing more work. I had to remove the side panels, bolts holding the silencer, 2 bottom bolts of the subframe and swivel the subframe up. I also had too much play in the throttle cable even with both adjusters all the way out. I had to use the Mikuni elbow to take up the slack. I didn't adjust the needle because my bike's TMXX jetting was richer than everybody else here. It started on the 3rd kick and idle seemed to be right. The bike started on the first kick this morning with the TMXX after sitting for 2 weeks. It was too late to drive it around the neighborhood. I'm going riding tomorrow and going to have a hard time sleeping.

I haven't gotten around to installing my Lectron yet. I've been sorta busy. The carb is just sitting on the kitchen table like some modern art centerpiece.
I had mine on my desk at work for a couple days at first and got some interesting comments from the guys.
