• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Round two of the "other" carb types - Lectron

The bike idles like a champ and never loads up

As I ride a ton of steep woods I am finding this very nice. Long down hills do not result in crap throttle response until it cleans out. You are right, does not seem to load up like a standard carb in these situations.

Excellent report, thank you. Glad you like it as much as I do. Did you find it smoothed out the throttle response from bottom to top (EI no feeling of changing circuits?) Also please keep an eye on your MPG and report back. I think i am getting about 2-4 mpg better, maybe more but hard to tell in snow rides. I use less than my friends. Keep the reports coming please.
The bottom end responce is instant smooth seemless throughout the rpm range and the power is just awesome. Will start checking the MPG when I get a new odo, was thinking about the voyager?

I am still waiting for mine to get here,it's killing me:(! I feel like a greedy kid waiting for christmas! I have faith that it gets here next week, thanks Kelly.

It will be worth the wait. Remember to move the throttle inwards on the handle bar and rerout the cable through the frame wish bone.Your gonna never want to stop riding that 144!!

Me too!

Fortunately or unfortunately, it's 10° now (front range CO) and has been cold for weeks with just enough snow to make it deadly in the shade. Warming a bit next week and hoping to make a trip south..... with the Lectron'd 165!

My Lectron for a 300 set up for Utah (5,000-10,000 ft; 45-100 degrees F) came with a "3-1 XL" metering rod. Its a 36mm carb.

Carb not installed yet. Its a balmy 8 degrees outside and its the warmest part of the day.

O.K. lady's and gentle man I got some seat time today and just want to say this carb is the real deal. I put a 36mm in the 250 and 125. Bottom end gains are awesome with awesome mid and top still feels the same. Super smooth no pipe hit just torque had to keep my right foot on the brake so she would go over on me. My best friend who is a 2001 ISDE Silver Medlist and also an ex Suzuki and Yamaha dealer said it was perfect and a torque monster. The only traces of spooge was what was left in the pipe from the mikuni. You guys that buy these carbs are going to be in the honeymoon stages agian with your bikes.Good luck my Husky brethen.
Tim(454X).

Question.... did the carb take the hit away on the 125? So are you saying it is like having a electric motor......that just keeps on pulling?

Yes, the pipe hit goes away and is replaced with the feel of more smoother torque. I guess you say it's electric.

Thanks for the reports 454x, Walt is reporting the same awesome performance as we are getting with our Lectrons. I got another ride in yesterday, HUGE hills in half frozen snow. It was a real HP challenge in some areas and the 165 w/Lectron never disappointed. Huge roll on power. Can short shift and it will just keep pulling with a never die attitude. Smooth linear power across the board, huge roll on power increases, perfect running. Also noticed this carb does not load up on long down hills nor ever spill any gas on the ground even when laying it over to move trail trash. Loving this carb big time.

Doug same metering rod for evrything:125/250/300 I beleave they are just adjusted differently.

Yep as the 125/250/300 come with very close to the same jetting and that the Lectron is super flexible that one rob seems to be the ticket.

they all shipped. Lectron was slammed when I placed a bunch of orders and they want to make sure they are all setup right so did not hurry them out just to get them out. The wait is worth it, these carbs are fantastic. I seriously will not be running a standard carb on a 2 smoke again, I like the Lectron that much.

Like people that love steering dampers and or autoclutches, once you try one you never want to go back.

So, Mike, I guess you'll need to send a carb with that back-ordered front nut...lol............. I'll call ya. Had a HS this Sunday & I'm still fighting the inconsistent idle, will seem fine & then die. And doesn't always start right away, while I lose time & positions, grrrrr. i've got a couple club members thinking about this carb also, the ones always complaining about jetting their pumpkins.....
