    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Saw something about this the other day. Good news. He has some cool ideas and it'd be a shame to see it all go away. Glad to see it continue.
 
I have had piles of street bikes and my Buell Uly is one of my favorites ever, warts and all. Has a ton of personality, super fun to ride, amazing suspension and handling. Hope the best for them in this effort.

IMHO they need to go a little less leading edge performance route and more sensible manufacturing and price point route. 20K+ race bikes are a much harder sell than 12K user friendly bikes especially in the age of bikes like the FZ-09 (great value).

I fully agree. I think they were onto something more lasting when they were building the Ully and the XB models. Make a cool, fun, reliable, fast enough for the masses bike and maybe offer some souped up RR version for the track guys.

I just came across this paragraph reading an article on the 1190RX. I remembered you having troubles with your front brake too.

The biggest issue we faced with the EBR was the perimeter-style front brake. We were impressed with the normalcy and good performance of the 1190RS brake at Miller, and Senior Editor Blake Conner had no issues slowing the RX during his first ride at the JenningsGP track in Florida, but our RX in this test had an ever-present vibration during any brake application. It was mildly bothersome on the street but became an issue at the track, reducing our ability and confidence to trail-brake down to the apex at the limit. It had to have hurt the lap times to some degree. A call to Erik Buell revealed the problem. “We have had an issue with the rotor supplier where about 15 percent of the discs have a different grinding texture,” Buell said. “This has just surfaced as our production volumes have ramped up. We are warrantying, of course.” A good replacement couldn’t be obtained before the end of our test. (Update: We received a new disc/wheel combo and new brake pads following this test and performance was normal).

Good info thanks. I guess that guy that had it before me installed the current ERB race disk and then started having the issue. I tell you what though, vibs aside, the brake will put the bike on the front wheel with one finger at 60 plus MPH. I have been told taking it off and wet sanding the surface will cure it. Will be doing that soon.
 
Anybody remember a few years back when there was talk of Buell making a dirtbike? I can't remember if it was before or after Harley dumped Buell. I wonder how far that project made it?

Ohhhhh, Hell ya!! I'd ride that in a flash. Nothing wrong with that at all. Nice lines, cool colors. Probably makes around 90hp. It's even got that pig balancing on top of a basketball look to it. Man, what could have been.....

the shrouds look to have been designed by someone who has never rode a dirtbike
