  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

250-500cc Ripped FMF Silencer

Like I had said FMF has always treated me and always come thru for me for over 20 years they are the only pipe company I use

Side note When Walt Smith AKA Mr Husky 165 ask me to ask FMF if they would work with us on the 165 project pipe, FMF came thru.
FMF sold us over 200 KTM 200 pipes with the parts to change them to fit the Husky at a great price. FMF knew we were going to take there KTM pipe cut it up and put it on a Husky. Also knowing that the said FMF pipe now cut and changed would still have a FMF logo on it. Think about that they knew we were going to change there pipe and still worked with us Plus reduced the price so we could make this happen

So that is just another story of why I am a loyal FMF supporter I am glad they hooked you up If you ever break that pipe and it is not under warrantee let me know as I have a brand new one still in the box that I will never use Give you a deal On my 2010 WR 300 I run the older 2006 shorter turbin core type Keep saving it for a rainnyday but my turbin core type is still holding up

Sweet! as stated earlier though I'd only mount the rear-most bracket. Just got back from a 360 mile baja trip on my 300 and the one-mount bracket held up just fine... if through 2 dirt samples.. you might have better luck than me though, or maybe the seam is heavier?

id be inclined to do as mentioned above. or at least have everything loose from exhaust to silencer & work from silencer forward to relieve some stress on the mounts/seam.

Good ideas, I'll mount the rear only and then tighten up moving towards the front of the bike.

I haven't made those adjustments yet, though. Here's a view of the attachments as of now.image.jpg

Another cracked QStealth :(
fmf-1.jpg
What's worse is it broke from a fall off icy ramps on my back porch  And, the screws were all seized, I stripped one and wore out 3 bits trying to drill it out :banghead:
Was thoroughly disgusted and found a PC 296 for $30 less than a FMF TC2. Looks like PC welds the mounts on, just hope it fits stock wr300 pipe.
I just put a TC2 on the wr144 and going to anti-seize the screws asap! Not sure I'm going to have the QStealth repaired, will see how I like the PC first and was already thinking to try a TC2 on the 300. The long QStealth seemed to mellow the 300 a little too much for me (I think), although didn't notice any less on top with it and stock pipe.
If I decide not to fix it, anyone who wants to hack will get it as is for the price of shipping.

The PC won't fit the stock pipe or the FMF unless you can do some fabricating. The length of the inlet to the silencer is different by several inches.

Grrrr...I see that now on PC's site, but not on the site I bought it from. Will have a look, I have 2 stock silencers and the Q to hack if it's easy.

Looks exactly like mine did mate. Shite silencers durability wise. Chop it down 150mm(bit of each end if you don't need the SA if u do May need to reweld tab), use the tab closest to end cap to mount n chop the other one off, make a new stinger n mount on ya 144. Got mine on my 165 rite now jus haven't given it a good run yet. Hopefully Monday to see how it goes. Wen I get a beta it will be gettin the chop straight up. They must be gettin em cheap along with GG to come standard. Give me a PC2 or even TC2 any day over these things!.

On a side note my 300s mounts have both finally cracked after 230 hours. Skinny little shitty mounts they are I'll get some chunky ones welded on(like 125 come stock with) when they snap or I can be bothered removing subframe

Thanks mate, but do need the SA and not setup for serious modding or welding. Yeah, not happy with the durability on the Q, hope the TC2 on my 144 holds up.
Just had a look around and realize the Qstealth is the only aftermarket SA available in the US at least that fits the stock pipe. There a TC2 universal so that's an option. Best right now is if I can get the PC 296 hacked. If not I guess the uni TC2 and use the Q as a donor.

Nah man jus order the 2006 wr250 powercore 2 or turbine core 2. Same frame/engine bolts straight up no moddin. They jus don't list it as fittin the newer bikes n 300s. Heaps of threads on here n guys n gals whove done it. It's what my powercore 2 on my 300 is from!!! :)

But yeah if you can make up a stinger for the 296 do it. Bit of SS tube(electrical conduit-think it's around 28-30mm diametre), pipe bender, press to flare junction of stinger/pipe n a quick tig/mig(?) hey presto. 6 pack of beer job. ;)

Thanks for that! I remember now reading that somewhere. One of those on ebay for the same price as the universal version

fyi: here's the three of them

Didn't notice before the stocker is almost as big as the Q. The PC is smaller and seems very well made. Gonna see if I can find someone to mod it for me.

304 is SS I think but maybe it's jus the stinger n end cap n body is ally. Meh either way better than the husky qstealth

I think the body is Al and the ends are SS :D
http://www.procircuit.com/type-296-wr250-300-09-13.html

"The 304 silencer is recommended for most two-stroke applications. The slightly longer body offers reduced noise output when compared to the R-304. The brushed aluminum body, stainless steel inlet tube and end-cap give you a silencer that looks as good as it performs."
"The Type 296 Silencer is...Constructed of aluminum and stainless steel"
