  • Hi everyone,

    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Well I am not usually one to try a new product until I've seen some feed back on it but I could not resist. I saw the Dyna Ring web site www.revloc.com and watched the video. I emailed them back and forth a couple of times and next thing you know the brown truck was coming down the drive way. There is not much to it, I was really kinda skeptical. It was very easy to install. I have had it in for about a week, I have had the clutch cover off one other time to fine adjust the clutch. I rode it around the place here and was impressed and yesterday I put about 30 miles on it. Some back roads some tight trails and some hill climbs. I really like it. I have never ridden with an auto clutch before so I can't make a comparison but this unit works great, no stalling in the tight stuff or the slick down hills when I lock my back brake up. When I come to a complete halt and going to idle for a minute I still pull the lever in and it will set and idle no problem and I can start in gear no problem. I will keep you posted if any problems develop but so far so good.:thumbsup:
 
Is the clutch feel 100% normal as they claim? Like if you feather it does it feel odd like a Recluse? Can you pull the clutch in at max RPM, like in a stuck throttle situation?
 
Poopy, I ordered one for a late model Honda CR250.
NWRider, you have to back the adjustment off to use your clutch as normal. With it adjusted for the dyna ring, I use the lever if I'm running up the road, going through the gears but in a stuck throttle situation, I don,t think so, I think the dyna ring would override. I guess you could ask them, but I think I would be going for the kill switch.
 
Clutch plates....both fiber and steel for WR250 are same as Honda CR 250's and also CFR 450's. Both use 7/6 of each. Now for 125 guys.....same as early CR125 buth not later. Explanation here. Same plates for CR/WR 125 as Honda CR 125 or CRF250 but later Honda CR125 and all CRF 250 use 8/7 (fiber/steel ) while earlier CR 125 (Honda uses 7/6 like Husky 125. And yes 7/6 and 8/7 makes a difference in the physics of the engagement/disengagement as well as the physics of the drive.

WVdag....it is my impression it replaces some of the fibers/steels in the clutch pack...otherwise same setup as stock (with exception of you predescribed adjustment for standard or auto modes.)
who is gonna be the 125 "Guinea Pig"?
He does not yet have this application figured for Hydro clutches but is working that now.

Yes, I failed to mention that it replaces all of the metal plates and..... without going to the garage I think two of the fiber ones. So far, but I am just a trail rider, it suites me fine and I would buy it again. I'll keep you posted.

That's very interesting. I have a Rekluse pro, but that's so much simpler. I may have to try one for that price.

That was what I was wondering when I first saw this a couple months ago. I was wondering if/how much will it reduce the life of the remaining plates, given that there are significantly less of them(say about 6-7) doing the same work as ~13 plates were doing originally. Also, will it have the same grabbing power as stock, using less plates....?

which model and could you give us the part number, you didnt need to mod it to fit??

With the dyna ring you get a new set of metal plates to replace your stock metal plates and you use all but two of your stock fiber plates, the ring itself is only about 3/8" thick or so. As far as grabbing power I can feel no difference. It works great, so far.
 
Can you describe how the clutch feels at the lever? Any difference from stock? Can you override the clutch at the lever at high rpm? Can you modulate the clutch at higher rpm and does it feel different at the lever when doing so?

These Dyna Rings are very interesting...
 
Just got an e-mail from Rev-Lock and they said there currently testing for husky 125 and may be ready in about a week. I have the EFM in my bike but in case any one wants to try this it will be available for us.

Been working with Alan there at Revloc and will be carrying these soon. Cool product. :thumbsup: Testing in my 125 and 2010 TXC 250 shortly.

125 Husky uses the same metal and friction plates as 98 to 09 KTM 125, 98-10 KTM 200, Honda CR 125 86-99. (later Honda CR 125 used same plates but as 8/7 as opposed to 7/6) Revloc for 2000-2007 CR 125 will not work.

This should help out the mad Englishman

You are the man:thumbsup: I really like the EFM auto clutch but it looks to me like the Revloc Dyna Ring raises the bar a notch and costs less. Will be anxiously awaiting your report Kelly.

Thanks for the info. I was just about to ask if there was another make's clutch that matches the 125 clutch and you provided the answer. :cheers:

So, if it will fit in the 250 / 300, then it should also work in the 250/310/450/510 4T motors, right?
 
Not on 4 stroke for 1..diff basket and setup. Heck the 250/310 is diff from the 450/510.
Also, It is not yet "perfected" for Hydro clutch yet.
This info is as I am aware of but I don't know everything.
