  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Retaining OEM Graphics

Anyone have any tips or tricks on how to keep OEM graphics from peeling off? Maybe some crazy glue or something around the edges? Call me crazy but I like the factory graphics on my TE450.

I've never seen anything that think would work to well. Graphics are cheap enough I'd just replace them as needed

Yeah I just replaced the stockers with new stockers. Let me tell ya, they ain't that cheap! I cleaned the plastics real good and gave them a final wipe with alcohol. Heated up the plastics with a heat gun and applied the graphics. Came out good but doesn't look like they will stay on too long.

Oh ok. I want if you can use rattle can spray paint. I would tape it off maybe a 1/4 inch around the graphics and spray them with several coats. Odds are the clear will scratch but you'll be able to buff it out my hand. Sorry, only idea I have :)

You can masking tape around edges first, for clean line. Then pull graphic back and use a small amount of contact cement or 3m weather strip adhesive. Go lightly or can ruin graphic. Hold down with masking tape. Clean edge with thinner or acetone.

So I masked around the graphics and then pulled them back off. Got some 3M super 77 spray adhesive and sprayed the plastics and the back of the graphics. Stuck em back on and it seems to be good. I guess the real test will be covering them in mud and washing. We'll see I guess.

if you go cheapo you are going to regreat it.

Super glue works to some degree on my bikes but is temporary at best ... I read out here once where someone was using clear finger nail polish ... I'll try that 3M stuff mentioned above if I see it or that clear girly stuff ...

"A well regulated and often ridden Husqvarna dirt bike, being essential to some of our daily lives, is gonna get gnarled up looking over time" --- There it is in print ... So it is written and so it is true -- I'm ok with my Huskies being gnarled up looking to some degree.
