  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

REPACK Arrow Exhaust/ 2009

Jason- I kinda feel bad since yours looks so good... hope I wasn't the sole inspiration for opening yours up... I reported what my 09 was like cause I was surprised that stainless shell was inside- had it been the same as a standard exhaust like the 08 I wouldn't have bothered- I suspected the 08 would be different/normal (correctly so). I figured some might open it up and give up at the site of that stainless thing- and spend 3-400$ on a slip on thinking it the only option...

I desired to change mine out because usually they need to be changed out about once a year to stay on top of it (depending on how much you ride, the quality of the packing, and the conditions you keep). Mine was GONE- literally no packing left accept enough to show evidence it was once packed . My bike was noticeably louder. I think the Stainless shell accelerated packing degradation. I knew it needed to be repacked, I put on alot of miles in that ~2 years. it was well overdue in my case.

The Screen that you have welded to the core is different than mine as well. Yours screen and packing appear in pretty good shape- up to you on if you put it all back together and save the kit for next year. The screen should have steel wool under it- verify its condition, but assuming its not bad. I am surprised yours is in such good shape- maybe you ride your 250 too much, the packing was good quality and the lack of that stainless shell didn't accelerate its degradation.

Oh- I'll try to weigh that stainless shell today- its not too heavy though- but then again everything unnecessary is.

I think if you have it apart, repack it.

I just pulled some good looking packing like that out of my CR125 muffler an it was much quieter with the new packing in.

it's cool you do not seem to have have the "extra" steel sleeve inside your muffler like the others do. I wonder if my 2010 muffler has the sleeve?
