  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

125-200cc Rekluse and a 125

No Rekluse for the 125. Myself and a growing number of Husky 125/144 riders use the EFM clutch. Joe Chod was the man who got the ball rolling with his '04 CR125. I got that clutch for my '02 WR125 when Joe sold that bike. It's on my '09 WR125 now. He got Gary at EFM to do another for his '07 WR125/144. Bill502 has one, Wallybean too and a few more. When Joe first got one, I was a doubter.... but after Joe had a very successful NETRA enduro season, I was sold!

You'll need to send your clutch basket for machining. Husky isn't on Dirt Bike list, but it's availible.

Fury1 was kind enough to let me ride joes 144 at a turkey run. After a bit I was thinking If I dig my 144 I'm definitely going to have to give one of these some thought. interesting piece of equipement.

EFM Clutch

How does the EFM clutch compare to the Rekluse? Can you use the lever still? Is it like the cheapo Rekluse, or the High zoot EXP? Curious minds want to know.

I am running the lhrb and can't imagine not having it. Every time I ride a bike without it I hate the lack of feel when using the pedal. The EFM is just like the rekluse pro in that you have complete use of the clutch at all rpms. I use the two finger lever offered by Rekluse and it is actually worth the money to just buy their kit for the LHRB/two finger clutch. One bonus of using the efm is that you can still use a hydraulic clutch if you want although that rules out the LHRB.

One of the great things about the Motoz tires is the substantial increase in rear braking force(tracula/terrapactor only tires I have experienced) and if you get frisky with the pedal it will actually send you over the bars where other tires just slide. The LHRB makes it possible to take advantage of this incredible grip fully.

Nice  Try the Enduro S/T's next, amazing tires.

Kelly,

It will take me 2 years to wear out the ones I have. So far this trip I have almost 100 miles of rocky desert terain on my Terapactor and it has barely worn the edges off. I really didn't expect it to wear this well considering the light weight, open knob design, and the serious amount of grip.

I'm keeping my '08 cr125!I thought I might give something else a try where I could fit a rekluse to...for longer rides my wrist just does'nt hold up.So the thought of a efm and 144 kit maybe just the ticket...sure cheaper than a new ride...what's the estimated cost for the efm mod?

You will have $650 in the EFM by the time you get it shipped. Still worth every last cent. I just spent 200+ miles beating the crap out of my WR 144 in desert like riding and the EFM worked flawlessly. Starts and idles and never stalls no matter what. The 144 makes the bike run so well everywhere. I haven't had this much fun riding since I was a kid. I did a trials run up one particular wash, lots of 4-6' walls and 2' steps with lots of "rocks" inbetween. On either my WR 360 or my old WR 250 it would have been hell but I was giggling how much fun it was on the 144 with the EFM. It shouldn't be that way but it is so light and the great running 144 matched to the EFM made it easy. I am a slow, talentless rider and for me to have fun in this stuff was eye opening.
