  • Hi everyone,

    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

    Thanks for your patience and support!

125-200cc Reeds for 125 all the same through the years?

Hi

Just a question about the reeds

on my last inspection of my bike the reeds are still in tact but would not be far off from replacement.

so I am in the process of getting them so I have them on my shelf when the day comes to replace.

so far I know my WR 125 is a 2002 yet I do see a fair bit of production time stamps in various parts to be 2000, are there changes in reeds (shape,size) throughout the years of this engine or not?

Robert-Jan,

Does yours have the V-Force 2 reeds? I believe they went to them at about that time. If it doesn't have them then you need to order reeds for the 00-01 husky. I would install the boyesen dual stage reeds instead of the stock reeds if it takes the older style.

Robert-Jan;
I have a 2004 WR125 and when I replaced the reeds they seemed to be the same from '01 to '06 - BUT some bikes were fitted with V Force cages - Mine was not. I used a set of Boyssen Power reeds #608, as they were about 30% cheaper than the stock reeds - I cant say if they were better as I also changed piston ring and blew out pipe at the same time. There is another Italian manufacturer of after-market reeds but cost the same as Boyssen and delivery was questionable.
Check the cage and then you'll see from Boyssen's listing what years they'll fit. Hope this helps.
