    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Nothing scientific ... just numbers on paper after an event is over ..

Sounds weird but if ya wanna go as fast as a 450, all you gotta do is buy a 250 and of course, learn how to ride it correctly.

oh but you gotta have a 450 to go fast i call BS but i gotta wonder could they be faster on a 250/300 2T?
 
I've always thought the show of skill was not that they could go faster than the smaller displacement classes, but that they could go as fast of faster while manhandling a larger, heavier, more powerful motorcycle. We all know a big ass 450 is faster than a 250 in a straight line. The test here is to see who can muscle that big ass 450 around all the twists, turns and bumps.
 
Under perfect conditions, a bigger HP machine should out drag that lesser HP machine ... But you gotta remember though that 2 yrs ago a 450 did not get a single holeshot in 3 attempts against the less size engines in the MXoN ...But saying a 450 is big hunk of fat steel that is a challenge to ride is a new angle....

The Leap last race did show some difference in the jumping ability of the bikes... Most of the 250 guys were not even jumping it ... Add that into the calculations also ...

Physics is entwined here in some manner I'm guessing.... probably with that rear tire spinning wildly or something with the human being not being able to use what he has under him ....

Might be something with braking also ... If you are going faster heading into a corner, you must corner faster or not slow down as much or do you let the slower guy catch you on every entry to a corner? Not sure how important HP is in mid-corner ... Exit speed depends on HP put to the ground ... Back to the traction thing again on each corner exit.
 
To me there is only one spot on Redbud that a 450 is an advantage.... Laroccos leap

it has been proven that a 350 can be an advantage at times.... even riders that are not as good like Shorty did really good on a 350 and Carolli won many a championship overseas on one....

The rougher a track the heavier and more power is not a good thing, a 250 with less rotating mass and less actual weight will save you energy and you will straight float over stuff a 450 will hit....

A 250 would take a far superior rider to hang with a 450 because of the power delivery....
 
You probably have to design a course for the 450 to show it's hp advantages. Like some highspeed straights. Or jumps that only a 450 can triple.
 
i think the displacement rules need reworked 250 and under and 300 and up stroke count be-damned:thumbsup: if you can buy the the bike [or the parts] you can race the bike like Ks YZ465/RMZ250 hybrid
