  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Rear brake light switch WR 390

A Class
Gents,
I've just bought this brake light switch for my 79 WR 390 , but can't really find a suitable place to mount it yet , without my boot snagging on it . Has anybody fitted one ? If so , can you show me the best place to mount it . Thanks

Not wishing to wee on your chips after you have already bought yours ..... those have a very very short life span !
I found this out the hard way.

I have been using (very successfully) a Kawasaki switch with a bracket from a Kawasaki ZZR600. These switches are common across the Kawasaki range as are the brackets to a certain extent. I put a small piece of silver gaffer tape around the frame tube to stop scratching the paint and to stop the bracket slipping. I use this system on all my bikes that need a brake switch.

it should be mounted high up under the tank almost on the frame side tube with a long cable to the brake pedal. mine goes around a little wheel in front of the swing arm pivot to get the angle right.

Cheers Grouty for the info , I did wonder about the robustness of the one I've got .

Surprize - Is that how the factory mounted them ? It seems quite a lot of work , although I think it's a good way of keeping the switch away from all the crap and also out of the way of your boot .

If you two have finished organising your rondezvooo....P6170003.JPGP6140038.JPGP6170003.JPGP6140038.JPG here is a couple of pics of the 510 set up. poor quality but all I can find. you can see the switch in the 1st pic bottom left and the second shows the dicky roller in the swingarm pivot.

It's always good to meet up with like minded folk ....

I agree , not everybody understands why we want to ride around on 30 - 40 year old bikes , and I often get funny looks when I tell people that i've no real interest in modern bikes , be them road or dirt bikes .
