  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Radiator hoses

Has anyone tried these or any better version out there? My powerbomb is real close to my stock hose so I need to either cut it shorter of replace them and adjust accordinlly. I saw these but thought I would ask before ordering. Do these require special clamps to avoid damage? I plan to use the waterless coolant from Zipty too.

Thanks for the reply. They are made in the USA and do have a 1 year warranty. They seem to have good reviews too. I plan to change to waterless coolant and figured it would be a good time to swap hoses. Looks like mostly bling with some possible increased flow benefit but not sure about any real advantage. My power bomb is nearly touching the left side OEM rad hose now so I wrapped it with heat shield for now. I might be able to cut it shorter to gain a 1/4" or so of clearance. I think I will pick these hoses up and do a review for the rest of you guys.

OK I ordered the hose set along with 6 silicone hose clamps. Review pending. Now to call Zipty for some XF+ coolant. Do you thing 1/2 gallon is good for a 310?

One bottle of the XF coolant is more than enough. The hose you linked will eliminate the thermostat set up o the TE. Which I think is a good thing. I also have a power bomb header and do not have any problems with the stock hose.

I was a bit concerned about the header being so close to the hose so I wrapped it for now. No problems yet. Again I thought about simply cutting the hose back a bit to gain clearance but decided on new hoses just for the heck of it... I didn't think of the themostat coming into play. Huuumm what did I get myself into here? LOL Sounds like a challenge, I like those.:) I searched and found this thread discussing deleting the thermostat. Thread is interesting to say the least... http://www.cafehusky.com/threads/tc-radiator-hose-kit-on-te-delete-the-thermostat.22375/

I was also interrested in the possibility of changing hoses to Samco and others but besides the thermostat is also the fan switch (#26/28). Both would be deleted with the hose kits. Negating them would allow for cleaner routing at the what expense though. This pertaining strictly to the TE setup.

That must be a Red Head thing as the 2012s do not have #28 #29. The fan is controlled buy a sensor in the water jacket. That would be a good piece to add a fan to a bike without a Bung on the radiator for it (IE Yamaha Wr450 pre 2012). I would also think it would be easy to add that back into the 2013 system if you went with the TC hoses.

I tried to look up the part numbers for it and they are listed wrong in the manual.

Where did you find this drawing? it doesn't match the 2012 TE310 diagram. This is the Husky diagram for a 2012 TE310. Look at page 80 http://www.halls-cycles.com/fckimages/file/Husky PDF/2012 Parts Fiche/TC-TE-TXC 250-310.pdf

It is from the '13 parts PDF published in 6/12. I guess it goes along with the changes Mikuni/Keihin and related ECUs. Would make me more leary to start deleting components on the '13 for now.

I ordered the hose set for a 2012 TE310 (black head). You had me worried for a second there. Looks like the 2013 wouldn't work for this hose setup or at least would require some modifications.

The routing will be a little different than stock it will go though the opening in the frame and not under the cross bar

Well I sure hope they include installation instructions but thanks for the tip. I did order 6 special hose clamps for the silicone hoses too since they have rolled edges and are less likely to cut the silicone hose.

The Factory Pro silicone hoses came and I removed the stock hose assembly, wow what a contraption the oem setup is. Any tips for making sure I have all the engine coolant drained? The XF+ hasn't arrived from Zipty yet but should be here soon. Just trying to make sure I get as much of the water base coolant removed as possible. The 7602 rad guards should be here tomorrow too and the Rekluse Wednesday. Suspension should be ready by Wednesday also. Motosportz dampener went on along with some new bars. She's getting a winter makeover:cheers:

Funny, I just checked ebay & they say this kit won't work on a '12 TXC310, but will on a TE. Doing some checking around & it's interesting that CV4 site states that the "manufacturer" will have to cover any warranty(30-45days) so CV4 doesn't make the hoses. Maybe this co in OK does, hmmm. Getting ready to do this mod on my TXC also so thanks for the pics. Was gonna get CV4s but may have to rethink things.

Kinda sucks that the pipe doesn't fit correctly. I just ordered a Powerbomb from FMF. Looks like I might be doing the hose replacement thing also. Thanks for doing the job first so I will have pics to follow. :D

What's the part number on your pipe? The one I ordered is 045528.

You got most of the old coolant out by taking off the old hose/thermostat and draining both radiators. The correct/best practice answer is to use Evan Coolant flush and flush the whole system again with it. This product was made for the specific propose.

Less expensive route; is use the XF coolant to flush it out. Our bike uses half the bottle of coolant to fill up. Use 1/4 of the bottle to fill the system 1/2 way up and then run the bike for a little while to get the new coolant to circulate into the system. Drain the system and discard the used coolant. This will take out the rest of the water in the system. Now fill up the bike with the remainder of the XF coolant.

Not sure about that part # but here is exactly what I ordered and installed without any fitment problems.
    1. FMF Exhaust Titanium Factory 4.1 Slip-On Muffler - FMF P/N 045339
    2. FMF Stainless Steel Power Bomb Header - FMF P/N 045378
Hope this helps:)
P.S. The only reason I am installing silicone hoses is for the bling factor. The stock hoses were working fine. I wrapped the one closest to the header with heat shield for good measure but it showed no signs of heat damage. Hall's told me they run this header on several bikes and never had a hose melt. Again, I just replaced them with the pretty red ones because I felt like it. Maybe I will get better reliability and better flow with the factory pro silicone hoses but until they get installed I can't comment. I should be finished later this week and I will report back.
