• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Radiator Guard options for 630

Indy

Husqvarna
AA Class
Anybody know of radiator guards available for the 630? From a little research it looks like OFG and BPD might be the only options, but their websites don't provide much detail (if any) regarding the 630 or price.

Hopefully somebody has a cool solution........

I put a set of motosportz ones on a 630, it did require 3 of the bolts to be 5mm longer if my memory is correct.

I have OFG Racing guards on mine that were designed for the 610 (I think), installed by Hall's before I even got the bike. They required "slight modification". I'm not sure what that was. One thing I think that may have been done is the long both that joins the two together through the bike on mine is not stainless, and is an SAE bolt, not metric. I wonder if they had to put something other than what OFG includes in it's place.

I put BPD (Bullet Proof Designs) on my 630. Required shortening the mounting bolts. Longer bolts were needed where it locates on the radiator had to do away with the spigot locaters and just install big washers on these bolts. And I had to put washers under the rear mount bolts on the front guard so the front mudguard doesn't hit the rad guards.
I'll try to load a couple of photos if your interested?

I was working with the Aussie importer to try to get BPD to make a specific guard for the 630. One thing I don't like about the BPD guard is on the right guard there is a cutout for an overflow bottle to suit other models. BPD said they were prepared to make a specific guard if we ordered 5 sets. Something you guys in the US may be able to organise?

Checked out their website, but didn't see anything for the 630. Which model did you use?
Thanks,

I did. Still not sure what to order though..... Probably give them a call I guess.

I have no complaints about my modded up OFG guards. They don't have the screen in front, but for crush protection, they're very solid. They also get good reviews on the various forums.

I'm going to see if I can't find a stainless replacment for this bolt, though.

The OFG guards do look good for crush protection. Personally I'm more interested in the screen protection because I have some bent fins already.

I made one for my Triumph Street Triple out of a black mesh waste paper can (need tin snips) and some slide on plastic car door moulding. Waste paper can at Walmart and moulding at any Advance Auto. Mine fits snuggly under my radiator moulding (because the waste paper can is curved), but you might have to zip tie it on. Mine has been working for 3 years. I've seen them selling for $1$$.00 for the Triumph ST3.

I have installed several sets of Enduro Eng rad guards for a TE250/450/510 on 630s with minimal fuss.

Very curious about the Motosportz fitment and crush protection. The OFGs are very sturdy for crush protection, but there's nothing preventing the fins from puncture damage in the front.

Motosportz guards arrived today (German customs very kindly charged ... 0€). They look very stable. will report on how thy fit.

Installed the Motosportz radiator guards. They fit the 630 and make a very stable impression. But installation is not as easy as it looks. Easiest part is unclipping the OE vanes. Then the side tank panels have to come off. It would have been easier to remove the tank (but I didn´t). Fitting the bolts for the guard was a bit like work for an obstetrician, but if I can do it, suppose anyone can.
