• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

TE/TC Quad Flow Torque Wing

robertaccio

Husqvarna
Pro Class
Thunder Products Quad Flow Torque Wing.
I had very good experience and results on my last 2 carbureted 450 4 strokes with Power Now horizontal intake splitters. I used both power now devices, one on each side of the carb (this company is defunct now). The seat of the pants feel was instant smoother response from the bottom and more perceived torque, the splitters made the bike more hard trail ride friendly.
So I did some research and decided to try the Thunder Products, Quad Flow Torque Wing device on my TE300 Husqvarna (KTM 300 powerplant). The result is positive and very much the same as the Power Now was. The 3 hundo has evolved closer to my perfection and has clean smooth power right off the bottom with minimal throttle opening right into the full range of throttle positions.

Note: Jeff is one of my many BS filters, if he likes a product for his builds I'm usually OK with it. Also Motocross Action gives this device 5 stars unusual for them to give 5 star rating to anything.

I put one each into my Mikuni 38s of the 2001 YZ125 as well as on my 2017 TX300. I just found what listing they had for a 38mm Mikuni equivelant carb and ordered them up. My TX300 is a tractor and the 125 seems smoother up the rpm range. Both have Moto Tassinari reed blocks. TX300 has an FMF gnarley the 125 is pro circuit equipped.

Interesting. We all have our feel, like I said I have one on the YZ125 as well as on the TX300.
For me it did what the powernow products did for my TE450 and TXC450, smoothed out low to mid noticeably with seemingly no effect anywhere else

I have some saddle time on my 2018 TC250 finally.
WOW what a motor - was thinking about putting the 300 jug on it for old man MX to get the extra torque etc, but Im not sure this thing is lacking anywhere in HP.

I got a Steahly 9 oz Im gonna try and most like the FMF Gnarly and their new silencer to broaden the power a bit
Im looking for a bit more down low/traction/grunt = (Gnarly and flywheel) - wondering if this would compliment that or not?

robertaccio thoughts??

Thanx
Scott

Works great in my WR250 very happy with increase in low end response. Scary part of install was taking a hacksaw to my carb! Watched Slavens video multiple times before doing it!

Those wings have definitely helped the feel of the 4 strokes down low into the mid, and on both my YZ125 and TX300 seem to keep the power smooth from the small opening of the slides. It's all seat of the pants, in the case of my 2 bikes current ones I used the Quad flows on the 38mm Mikunis. Before on my 2006 TE450 and 2008 TXC450 I used the powernow horzontal wings on both sides of the Keihin FCR carbs

Although true as far as engine tuning goes (hi-comp head or adjustable chamber as well), I for one like the OEM power setting ( I have not even touched my PV spring or factory preload setting) with just slight tweaking. I like mine smooth and easy to ride with low fatigue factor. I can go faster longer, its always about the finish for me.

Just an FYI..I thought the same until I tried the red spring...and WOW, so much better, especially on the bottom.
