  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

do the fins make that much difference? im a pretty slow rider. mostly ride tight woodland but do quite a lot of steep terrain also so bottom/mid range is where im at all the time.

I have been playing with a 36mm and a 39mm pwk on a wr 125 and have just put a 38mm airstriker on and I can honestly say I have found no bottom end gains with it at all and if anything was a bit of a pain to get rid of a little rich spot at around 1/8 throttle and had to fit a leaner slide to just about clear it up
I must add I was being very very picky and most people would never notice it
I will say that the 39mm with a divider plate (reed side) makes more bottom end power than either the 36 or the 38 airstriker so I have just fitted a plate to that but as its dark outside testing will have to wait till tomorrow :)

I don't think the little wings do that much. I agree with johnnyboy, the plate in the throat is much better at increasing bottom than the air striker wings, but they don't seem to hurt anything.

BTW; Those are actually PWM series carbs in the picture.

Does anyone know what the weird shape on the top of the KTM pwk does vs. the screw top? It is just a big hollow space inside. Is there a performance difference?

Its there for no other reason than to fit the tps (throttle position sensor) as fitted to KX 250s yz 250s ect , the slides and every thing else all interchange
I also must say how sorry I am for putting a pic up of a PWM and calling it a pwk ! Im putting it down to a spelling mistake or is it that I am just getting a little senile

It's no big deal. I just got a e-mail from a guy wanting to know where he could get a PWK like that one. with the bolt on top. Just trying to clear thing up.

If you want more top end the PWM is the way to go. I have one on my 250, but I think it would be a much better carb for the 125 than the PWK. Also fits the stock space better. I'm even able to run a reed spacer with it. And they jet up pretty close to a PWK.
