  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

I wanted to give my knees and body a little relief... can anyone tell me what will work on my 1975 husky wr400 as far as changing swing arms for more shock travel?

Thanks

It will work with some work. You have to remove some metal on the inside of the arm.If you can find a mag arm you will be about the same with out the work. You will need the longer brake stay arm and longer brake pedal rod.

The '75 400WR should have the Mag frame and swing arm, the '75 250WR did anyway. Even with an ML swing arm you are not going to get big increases in travel over the Mag setup because of the upper mount.

The only thing I can suggest is something custom and that typically means big bucks.

Heres three custom swing arms found on the VintageHusky.com home page. I'm sure John would be more than happy to give you a price on something custom to meet your specific needs.

Looks to be a profab bolt together frame.Removeable sub-frame and lower engine/foot peg support.Like to see a picture of the whole bike

It looks like 2 different bikes to me from just seeing the rear view of the subframe. The 2nd and 3rd subframes look the same. To me the differences are ( 3 different brake pedals, swingarm pivot /subframe nut, a few fasteners are different but what makes you think it's made of Titanium? Did someone build some aftermarket Titanium frames at some point?

Would still like to see the whole bike in a photo though also.

Guys, you can see the whole bike(s) on Vintage Husky's home page.

vintagehusky.com Just click on the picture to zoom in.

Not sure what those bikes are exactly but the '76 model CR250 I owned had the shocks slanted much more forward at the top giving a big arc of travel for the shock. Those SA do look pretty study, ESP that boxed one .. My 76 model bike had a round tube SA that did not look near as sturdy as either shown in those pics.

Andy, your shocks are mounted at that angle shown above?
