I picked up some Akront rims that were used on a 2000 SM610. The previous owner put them on his TE410 ('96?).
After some hair pulling with fitting the rear caliper and chain length issue after fitting the sprockets (the factory manual specs are incorrect for the chain length and/or sprocket sizes).
I ordered and received the supermoto speedo sensor (this is a cable driven speedo model). Swapping that out and using the adaptor plate that came with the rims to relocate the caliper for the larger rotor, I installed the front wheel.
Everything fits and the wheel spins and the brakes work. But the rotor is rubbing significantly on the pads. With the wheel off the ground, a good hard spin gets maybe 3-4 rotations.
Riding at 20mph or so, there is a strong whine, somewhat like a siren, higher in pitch the faster you go, coming from the front. It sounds like it's coming from the speedo sensor.
I was careful to make sure the notches on the sensor fit correctly in the hub and ensured the square cable end was properly fitted as well.
A mechanic suggested incorrect spacers, thinking they were mounted to different forks, but checking the '00 SM610 shows the same spacers for the '03 TE610. Of course, that doesn't mean the prior owner didn't change them, but on cursory glance, it looks ok.
Any suggestions on what I should look at or what I might be doing wrong?
