  • Hi everyone,

    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

250-500cc Pro Circuit / Stock / Gnarly pipe

After a few dents I decided to send my FMF Gnarly pipe off the get dents taken out and straightened so it won't rub the shock spring. A couple years ago I bought a plain unplated pipe that I thought was a Pro Circuit. A year later I bought a used Pro Circuit silencer so that I'd have it when I switched pipes since a PC pipe won't work with a FMF or stock pipe. I was anxious to compare the PC the the FMF but today when I finally decided to put the PC on I was surprised to find that it is not likely a PC pipe and it will fit my Q-Stealth or my stock silencer. Now I have to either buy a PC pipe to use my silencer or sell it and never know if the PC is any better.

As you can see the silencer would never fit

I assume the pipe I bought is a stocker but I'm not sure because it's not painted or plated and has no Husky emblem stamped on it like the stocker did
 
Jus make a new stinger for PC silencer to fit the pipe-it's pretty easy to bend tube to shape with a bender, flare it then jus need someone to weld it. Problem solved.

Yes it is a sparky with a USFS sticker on it.

It could be modified to fit the FMF or the stocker and would be nearly the same as a turbin core
 
I got a chance to ride it today and it was very similar to the gnarly. It is a fuzz on the lean side at 1/4-1/2 throttle so I'm going to raise the needle on my Lectron a half turn and I'm thinking it might run better than the Gnarly after that.
 
2C was the racing company run by Ex Husqvarna GP race team manager & motocross racer Karl Prestwood. They were made in the UK (I believe) & are seriously the BEST pipe I have ever ridden on a 250 two stroke! The transformation was truly awe inspiring! Unfortunately I don't believe he is still making exhausts which is a real pity. My bother still has one on his wr250 & its an absolute weapon, so much so that It sometimes scares me a little bit(or a lot). Now, all the 2C pipes I have seen have had 2C stamped on them. Having said that I do believe some of his really early pipes did not have any marking on them. And in addition to this I believe rancher might be right! I does look very much like a 2C pipe in terms of it's shape & the weld seems as he used a folded seam. I can try & find some pictures of my bros pipe if you want?

That's good to know. I've only rode it once since I installed it and it wanted more fuel than the Gnarly which is a good sign for making horsepower. I gave my Lectron 1/2 turn on the needle and we have had ice and snow for over a month. Who knew that Lectron would have that much of an effect on the weather?:D
 
Yes it does want more fuel if its a 2C! Seriously if it is then keep it! It's an absolute ripper of a pipe! Beefs up power everywhere, really enhances the mid range with a really big strong hit & a wonderful screaming top end!
 
That silencer you are holding in your hand looks like it belongs to a 125- (i just bought a new PC silencer for my cr125- looks identical.-its also quite a bit smaller than my 250's silencer)

Compared to the Q stealth pretty much everything look like it belongs on a 125. I think the outlet diameter is the only thing PC changes for the different engines the outer body is likely the same on all the 296 silencers... much like the turbincore
 
I finally got a chance to ride yesterday and with the new (2c ?) pipe and 1/2 turn richer on the Lectron Needle. My 09 wr250 is back to its old tractor self and smooth with better over-rev than before, the front wheel didn't want to touch the ground much. The Lectron and this pipe combo is really good, much better than the Lectron Gnarly combo which I was very happy with.

The stock pipe with the Mikuni had a big mid hit but flattened out early, this makes me wonder what the Lectron would do with a stock pipe.
 
I tried Gnarly with Lectron (and Rekluse) on my 300 and didn't like it, no hit anywhere and signed off early. I may have been able to tune it better, but compared it to the stock pipe and much prefer that. With my setup, G2 throttle too, with stock pipe it pulls strong from idle and has more on top than I've got room to use.
Picked up a spare pipe in ex shape from another member, so until I find something better I'm setup. :thumbsup:
