• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Pricing a 1974 CR250 Mag?

oregon_rider

Husqvarna
AA Class
Hi,
A friend of mine at work has a 1974 Husky CR250 Mag that has been sitting in his garage and hasn't been run since 1990. He is the second owner. It is in original, unrestored condition. Pics are attached.

I know that this is one of the most desirable models you can find for vintage AHRMA racing. Can anyone here help us in coming up with an appropriate asking price for this bike?

Thanks,
Jeff

Nice one!

Saw a couple of Mags on E-Bay but didn't see what they sold for. Never liked the "make me a offer" deal from the seller. I usually say "your selling and you know what you'll take for it so?" I'm sure this was no help, sorry:excuseme:

Depends what you want to do with it.
To restore & maybe fart around on then it looks like the silencer thing on the end of the pipe has to go and the shocks are too long. Other than an air filter, reed petals, fluids, petcock, carb cleaning, tires and a good cleaning, she's pretty darn good.

If to race then everything has to come apart, decent shocks, motor work, etc..... a lot of $.

IMHO assuming nothing's locked up, top end is decent, clutch not abused, and shift mechanism solid (see lever pointing down) then $1,500-ish.

Don't make it a garage queen, you'll never be satisfied (and will secretly want to ride it) and you'll dump a ton of $ into it finding NOS stuff- but hey, to each his own.

I am not buying it - I am helping my friend do some research before he puts it on the market.

Before he put it away in 1990, it had a new top end with piston and rings. The bike is in perfect working order. The shifter just needs to be moved up one on the spline.

$1.5k sounds awfully low to me. There is currently one on ebay at $2k and another day left of bidding.

In it's current state of original parts still intact and it's a "mag", I would say 2.5K or more.

FYI - just an update, the '74 250 mag on e-bay just sold for $3650....

Not to dig up an old post but my father has the exact same bike. Same condition pretty much. He bought it new and he loved it. It has been sitting in the garage since then too lol. The value has definitely gone up on these. In 1975 he bought it off the showroom floor for 1000 dollars. Weird huh? 1000<3650 Good luck with your buddy's sale though :)

another CR 250 mag

I just found one an awful lot like it for $1200.00 put $100 down. it is supposedly a runner. raced a couple vintage events. What should I look for? I kinda figured I couldn't go very wrong. The numbers are right. Pete

4 years ago, 3500.00 plus, todays market??1200.00 to 1500.00.
with the politics of AHRMA, and the lack of happy funds..guys arent shelling out the big bucks anymore..
if your welling to ship over seas,,,, a bit more.. but that is a hassle.

Very reasonable... like mentioned above, unless the bike has been stripped of every nut and bolt $1200-$1500 is about it. My mag that was 100% restored(including a 6spd tranny), Ohlin shocks, etc ran about $4,000 to truly race... not cheap and for the most part this is what needs to be done so you don't take a chance on destroying it and finish a whole season on the podium!

Hey, compared to racing sailboats and cars, this stuff is cheap cheap cheap. No worries here. P

LOL**************************************** I agree!! Porsche Boxster spec class is $30k just to start in the "poor boy" class... can't speak for sail boats...

Just sold my Mag for 2.5k GBP.

It was a fair price. I would have liked more as I was genuinely sorry to see it go :(

If it wasn't for the peaky motor and my fat ass, I'd've kept the thing
