    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

125-200cc Powervalve will not close on 2008 cr 125 after changing spring

So I found time today to change the pv spring on my 2008 cr125 to the big yellow with inner green spring. Everthing went good untill I tested it with side cover off I could see the valve would open with higher rpms but not close when engine speed dropped unless I manually push it back down again with my finger. I never did test it before I changed springs thinking it was ok since bike has low hours. What would cause this to happen. The lever that controls power valve moves really easy like there is no pressure to push spring lever back down, it just stay at top even after motor is shut off. Thanks for any help.
 
I'd take it apart and try again, make sure the 4 ball bearings are in the cup separate from each other and not getting hung up as the govener speed increases.
 
Got it to work again but not sure how many people might have not checked to see if it working proper and think problem was with new springs since pv would be open all the time.
 
The problem was when I put governer back in I must have moved shaft to much to get govnerner back in and put it on the flat spot on gears. I kept turning shaft and putting governer back in until there was back pressure on linkage. Or I just got lucky on one trys. But it opens (goes up) when hard on gas and shut (goes down) when I let off gas. Going riding at track tommoro and find out how much differents it will make ,hard to tell in back alley being to short and narrow but it still kicks in good, seems like it powerband last a little longer so far. I am surprised nobody else has had this problem before. Another thing that was different was governer was stuck on cap very tight, took a very hard pull to get shaft to come loose from bearing on cap, that might be another reason shaft was turned to much when I was putting it back in.
 
Went for good long ride on Sunday and new powervalve spring worked out good. Powerband kicked in sooner and lasted a little longer. Took a while to figure out how to ride bike to suit new power delivery but after I got use to it felt good. I wonder if it would be worth sliding the linkage up in slot to see if there is any more improvement. My only problem is there is slight bog off bottom that has got better with turning air screw in 1/2 turn, now at 1 1/4 turns out but still not totally gone compared to my sons yz125 which has no hesitation. Have a 30 pilot in now which is way better than 35 which was way to rich. Or could it be stock gearing which is 13 and 50 tooth ,would going down one tooth on sprokets help. Can I drop to 12 tooth on counter sproket since it would be cheaper to try or what size would be recommend for mx I never get into 6 th gear on tracks I ride. Thanks for help.
 
So there has been 106 people look at this post but only 1 person reply. I useally find this site quite helpfull. Has anybody tried a smaller sprokets on cr 125 or had same problem as me putting govnerer back in after changing springs. Thanks for any help.
 
13/52 is what you want...best of both bottom and top.

As for the powervalve linkage, why not see what there is to gain.:cheers:
