• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

One very dejected racer…Pit crew and family about the same.
Ramped up the program and was ready for the long haul of the season starting with the Ga. round.

And now, The rest of the story…

We headed to Georgia for our first round of the series with the new machine; 2012 TXC250.
Trip was uneventful and the weather was looking good.

Signed up to contest the '4 Stroke B lites' class and ended up with 19 riders on the line with 3 Huskys.

Andy was definitely nervous and just wanted to get under way. They had a 1/2 hour delay until 1:30.

I had changed the oil and filter on Wednesday and had developed a small leak from the bottom of the filter cover. I understand the o-ring can get flat in a hurry from the heat. I thought I had it stopped but it started leaking at the track. This is how great the FAR team is… 1/2 hour before the start of the race I rode on the back of the bike with Andy up to the FAR tent; Fred and Joey were there along with Glenn, Jason, Craig and one other rider getting ready, things were pretty busy, but at this point the mechanic; Joey, had done his job. I mentioned the leak and he said 'yea that happens…lets put some silicone on the o-ring that should fix it'. I pulled the bike under the tent, laid it on its side and pulled the filter cover and filter. We cleaned the surface with some contact cleaner smeared a little white silicone around the surface with the o-ring, remounted the cover, cleaned the outside area and never saw another drop of oil. I will get the brand/type for silicone for reference. Thanks to the FAR crew…

Great flat starting area into a right hand sweeper…Got off the line decent. He wanted to make sure his first time out to not get to excited and have it not fire or stall it…Into the woods in third.

The start cut onto the track around the 7 mile mark of a 10 mile loop. The first abbreviate lap had Andy in 2nd and 2 seconds behind 1st. Not far into the first full loop Andy said he passed the 1st place rider and put the hammer down…towards the end of the first lap there was some open field track and he said no one was within 2 corners looking back. He said the bike was handeling and running great...felt good.

Somewhere right after this on a high speed sections he 'thinks' he hit a small kicker right before a turn and the rear came down cross-rutted, next thing he knew he was on his head. Said he heard and felt it snap on impact.

He did get back on the bike and find his way back to the pits. He pulled up to me and pointed at his shoulder and said he broke his collarbone… knowing how much we put into this and how much I like this stuff he said he was 'Sorry' and kept apologizing…

Good Kid…but shit happens.

Right now it looks like surgery, a plate and a good six weeks. Maybe the Kentucky round; definitely Indiana…

It definitly sucks...but we're already over that. We are developing a 'Come-Back Game Plan'...it's on!

Thanks to the sponsors…

Special Thanks to FAR Husqvarna…

Damn! Andy will heal fast and be back out there I am sure. Follow the doc's orders and get healthy. Thinking of you guys.

That's a real buzz kill. But, like you said, shit happens. Just a minor set back, so don't let it get you down.

I busted mine just like that when I was about 18 and they didn't plate it. I lost an inch of shoulder width, but I was back riding in no time.

Hang tough Andy, you still got fans.

BTW- I'll bet that white silicone was THREE BOND 1211. Great stuff!

Get er fixed/plated and get back to it (see RD5 or Colin Edwards examples-motivation). Get well soon!! Diet, supplements talk with FAR or other pro teams for recovery tips. You will all be back , just a racing setback. RN

Dang, I wondered what happened. Saw him in P1 lap 1 and then nothing, bummer. Heal up the right way Andy and come back stronger... We'll see ya on the box in no time....

Sorry to hear about this minor set back Andy. The good news is that you are young, healthy and Husky strong. You will be back in the saddle in no time and no doubt at the front of the pack. One of my worst get-offs in 40 years of riding happened up at Washougal when I was 50. Got nicked-up pretty good....broken humorous, 5 ribs, punctured lung and a couple other scrapes and bruises. Doc let me back on the HVA in 3 months and I haven't looked back. Heck, young buck like you will probably be back to racing in half that time. Good luck and God Speed Andy!

I love reading your race reports. All the best and get well soon... looking forward to more race wins and reports from you guys.

Sorry to hear of the setback, but he will be back and this will make him wiser. It takes things like this to be a complete racer that knows how to endure long season after season.

Hey it's Andy and I just want to start off saying thanks for all the support and responses. It means a lot and helps. The bike was running great and I'm most bummed I can't ride haha. I go in for surgery tomorrow morning, should be back real soon. I'll make sure to keep it up on two wheels so the Husky can be out front and so my dad can post better stuff.

Thanks again,

Andy
