• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Powers: Double ''Top of the Box'' Weekend!

Pro Class
With the GNCC summer break it was time to start looking local…We've been keeping an eye on the race calendar and the weather…well, both the moon, stars and whatever else lined up, looked like the perfect storm was brewing…

The plan was to put a couple of races on the current setup and then empty the shelves for a refreshed setup for the second half of the GNCC season.

Andy said he was ready for an Ironman type of weekend if I was…
Challenge accepted.

So…the 3 hour Rausch Creek AMA National Hare Scramble on Saturday about an hour away in Pa. and the 2 hour ECEA Hardwood Hare Scramble on Sunday about 3 1/2 hours away in New York…Game on.

Saturday, July 21st…
Rausch Creek is in the middle of coal country; sandstone, black coal/dust and rocks, rocks, rocks…It had rained pretty good the day before the race and we were set up for a mud run; but it really was not that bad. Traction was perfect, not a lot of mud or dust.
This year the promoter laid out a decent 13 mile loop that the riders could actually 'race' on. The past couple of years it was kind-of a survival run against the course instead of a race. Being they include the 'C' class and cut them out at the 2 hour mark; in the past it was too tough and bottle necks occurred even in the easy places…but not this year. He would end up with lap times around 42 minutes. 4 laps; 2 hours, 50 minute total…

Terrible start; bike did not fire because of a half-assed kick; we discussed that later on. Last off the line but only 7 riders…one was a buddy of his that also runs the GNCC in the same class. Being it was going to be about a 40 minute lap; getting lapped by the leaders was not going to be an issue.

First lap thru he was in 2nd place behind his buddy by one second…

Second lap thru he was still in 2nd but down by 36 seconds…

Third lap thru he was in 1st with an 8 second lead…42 minutes to go. My pit board had…'+0:10… Hammer Time'

Here's the finish infield video. I had the wife's camera; didn't do a good job of keeping the action on the screen. But it gives you an idea of how these guys were still moving at the end and how close these guys were after 2 hours and 45 minutes…

1st in 250B class and 7th overall… These two were pushing each other to the front…Great ride for both. It was fun for both of us dads to sit around and listen to these two bench race afterwards; they had a ball, Priceless.

Pack up, hang around and shoot the breeze waiting for results. Head home, cleanup, change oil and filters; get ready for Sunday.

Sunday, July 22nd…
1st time to the Ridge Riders track, but have always liked racing in NY. It was a really nice location in a typical NY valley with some promising ridges surrounding us. Took the mountain bike along; he rode it around a good bit to get loosened up before the race.

Decent turnout overall but limited turnout for the ECEA '4 Stroke B' class; only five bikes…but hey, push to the front. They had laid out about an 8-9 mile course. They started the rows at 1 minute intervals and his row was next to last. The front pro row; which had a deep talent pool, was going to have a good 10 minute head start for a 24 minute lap; he was going to get passed before the end.

Off the line great and checked out…

Each lap through he increased the time he was putting on his class, 2 minutes faster on the first lap to 5 minutes the last lap. Finished the race 15 minutes ahead of 2nd…

The overall leaders did pass him right before the finish on his 4th lap and did not get a chance to go back out on his 5th. Just part of the downfall of starting so far back in the field. At the end of 4 laps he was running 19 overall but lost the time he had made up when the others that started farther up got to do the 5th lap.

Nice uphill rip after the grass track...

Ended up…

1st in 'B 4-Stroke' class and 27th overall…

Now the machine, 2012 TXC250… never missed a beat all weekend. Nice!
The rider…a little sore in a few places…let's just say he slept well Sunday night.

Special Thanks to the sponsors…

Great job, have you had the motor apart yet? If not when do you plan on it, just to check it out?

Moto...I've taken the bike to the shop three time to have things checked over in the topend. All stripped down, with the valve cover loose for Chris to do a valve check.
Three times...check the settings...still in spec...bring it home.
Getting ready to do the summer break rebuild thing and will have it to the shop again for a checkup. Will report back.

Gotlabs...We would love to chase the entire AMA Hare Scramble series but the next two rounds are in Minn. and Mass. over the summer break.
While we won't be sitting still, we will stay somewhat local. But the Va. round will be the perfect round to hit. Not that far away and two weeks before
the GNCC series starts back up at Unadilla!

Thanks to all who replied or liked...and to those who read the post and smiled...

Congratulations! Looks like Andy healed up VERY well from his encounter earlier in the season. Great job!
