Sunday, May 27th… new race location, the Inaugural 'Mountaineer Run'… near
Morgantown W Va. They included a Memorial Day remembrance at the National Anthem before the race...nice.
It was good to be within a decent driving distance to the track, (although still 4 hours away) but we still went a day early and stayed about 25 minutes from the track. Gave us a chance to go Saturday, watch the ATV’s and walk the track.
Weather was promising to be blazing hot with the usual threat of thunderstorms…in the end; blazing hot, no storms.
The race was at the closest central location of the series for family members to catch the action. My brother and sister in-law from W Va., mother in-law and sister in-law from Pittsburgh and my mom and sister from Hershey…big cheering section!!
My brother showed up with 2 others; including his wife, on their toys…pictured here with our sister…
As promised; about 90 degrees at one o’clock…the start was level and went straight up a hill into a couple of sweepers before hitting the woods…decent.
They rotated the 4-Stroke B lites’ starting line up to row 8…also nice. The line ended up with 20 bikes…
Decent start…ended up going into the woods in about 5th place…
The lap times were around 36 minutes and it would end up being a 5 lap race for these guys…
First lap thru Andy was in 2nd; down about 1:15…he was very consistent, but still losing about 40 seconds a lap to first place on laps 1, 2 and 3… After the completion of the 3rd lap he pitted for gas…
I believe if I hadn’t had another go-around with the troublesome gas cap his 4th lap would have been as good or better than his fifth…definitely finished strong on a hot day…

His only pit stop was after the 3rd lap and with a total run time of 1 hour, 50 minutes for the 3 laps…the TXC only took 1.3 gallons of gas… Most likely attributed to his riding style…again, another nice.
After one lap Andy was 2nd in class and 98 overall and at the end he finished 2nd in class and 71st overall…the whole class was moving pretty good.
A little thumbs-up to 'mom the photographer'…pretty fast downhill where both hands might have been better on the bars…but hey, ya got to make sure you're having fun…
Ready to be done...
Done...
A little cool down time…said he didn’t feel too bad. Said he was down twice, once fighting with a berm and once a root caught him off guard…Said bike ran and handled great and the Pirelli rock tires; front and back, did the job…
Look what we found about 5 miles after leaving the track…Major cool down and goof-off time…made the trip home a whole lot more bearable…
Congrats to all the Husky racers...great weekend and it's nice to be 'back'...
Thanks to the sponsors…
