  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

has anyone had a go at fabricating a home made power valve damper. i am looking at making a prototype in the next couple of weeks (work permitting) hopefully should cost around $80 aus and have infinite adjustment.

if your talking stepper motor..or servo motor

I was thinking about that a while ago...might be worth doing some experimenting.

I have a Provini unit and it's a relatively simple design, but it works well. I really loved the way it made the WR so smooth when you set it on the stiffer setting.

Yes thats a damper unit...I understand that simple and it works :)

just finnished mk1, will test it out this weekend.
if all goes well i will pretty things up and take some photos but it is a very cheap solution to delaying valve operation whilst on the move.

it worked, the mechanism is operated using a twist lock push pull cable.
i have attached the handle to my home made radiator guards the other end of the outer cable is attached to the engine via a bracket mounted underneath the hts cover and the inner cable is attached to a spring which in turn is attached to the power valve actuating arm.
i have drilled a hole through the bottom of the hts cover to allow for the inner cable.
when pulled fully the power valve barely opens, at half way the bike still revs clean with no hit until the power valve starts opening higher in the rev range.
should come in handy and always good to have an option.
