  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

I picked up a 2010 sm510 and am new to the forum, been learning a lot from everyone's post. I was wanting to do some performance upgrades, can i skip the power up kit and use the power commander 5 and auto tune to do mods as funds come available?

There are a few essentials in the Power Up kit that are critical, one is the resistor to eliminate the stock 02-sensor (put the ECU into open loop), and the other is the airbox mod. Perhaps other options are covered here in a search, otherwise the PC-V/AT are brilliant.

GT- Rx Do you have to use the resistor or does the auto tune with the open 02 sensor replace the resistor.

Good point, the PC-V does come with the needed resistor. They also offer a model with ignition adjust option. Ping me direct for more info.

I have a new 2010 510smr and deresricted it. I was gonna next buy the pcv/autotune but dam I dont see no need cause I dont see how my bike could run any better than it does like it is. It ran even better sense going to the fmf slipon from runnin the shorted gutted stock cans . I also bought a k&n filter but the bike runs better with the stock uni I ran the bike back to back switching the filter and could tell quite a difference so dont waste ur money on a k&n " need to sell mine buy the way".
My bike runs so smooth and crisp instant throttle response and takes off like a rocket and will pull the frontend up in 4th gear without clutch. If I knew the pcv would help it anymore I would buy it but I dont see it gettin any better really if so then wow. I couldnt be happier on how easy my bike starts and runs.
LOL I remember how pissed off I was the first couple times I rode it after I bought it before I did away with all the restrictions you talk about a slow turd that wouldnt even pull the frontend in first cause of the throttle stop. I was totally blown away after I got done with it. I'm actually gonna buy another 2010 smr510 if they have any left by summertime just for a spare. I'm so glad I got the 2010 cause I wouldnt buy/own a 2011 at all.

Chainsaw,Were did you get the fmf slipon and did you have to modify it to make it work. I was also wondering did you put the resister in to put the bike in race mode, and and what remapping if any did you do.thanks

I've got a TE 250 with the PC-V and Auto Tune and it's fantastic! It comes with an O2 sensor replacement which is used by the PC-V in the tuning parameters. You can download maps free for the setup you're running on the bike. I think the Auto tune is the ticket though. Just activate it and ride! You can download the map at the end of your ride and upload it to the bike again if you are doing the same ride. With the computer interface you can play around with the settings if you're not satisfied with what Autotune has done. I've never had that problem.

I bought the fmf off ebay got the ti 4.1 powercore for a tc 510. It is a straight bolt on the only mod I had to do was cut the mid pipe at the weld " where it goes from 1 pipe to 2" . There was no need to buy the tc mid pipe cause the stock smr midpipe after cut works/fits perfect. I also bought a right side tc side panel and cut the right can mounting tab off the frame cause I didnt like the smr side panel sticking out at all . Now the bike looks factory like it was made for the single exhuast and I love it and would never go back. It was the best mod I've done on the bike so far. Sounds so much better ,looks better and performs better forsure plus lot less weight. I still wouldnt mind buying a pcv/autotune but just afraid I would be wastin my money cause my bike runs so good like it is and it doesnt show any signs of being rich or lean. Just runs perfect really
I can probby take a pic of my bike tomorrow if you want.
P.S yes I did put the resistor in and the bike is in race mode . I removed the throttle stop in the throttle body . I completely removed that stupid looking black plastic can thingy on the side of the bike plus removed everything restricting in the airbox. No flash screen behind the filter either just uni and plastic frame cage that the filter goes over is all.
