    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

OK, I'm excited....'Getting a PC V and a new map on the Dynojet dyno in Las Vegas in a week and a half. Since they had no map for a 630 with FMF Q4 and PU kit, air box baffle removed, I'm letting them make a new one. I live down at sea level, Las Vegas is at 2500 or so, and I spend most of my time riding from there on up. It should be good. The bike feels great right now, but should get better. I just hope the fuel mileage doesn't go straight down the drain.

While I'm there a PC V for my WRR is in order too, so I'll be putting that one on while the techs do the Husky.

I'll post up the results on the 630 when I can. Stay tuned, literally!
 
Do you have a different tuner already, and what are your I-beat settings?

Also, don't be in the room when they're building your map, it will make you cringe...
 
I have a PC V waiting to go on my bike. I am looking forward to the new map, as the mods on your bike are very close to mine. Does your bike have an open air box snorkle or stock? I built a custom snorkle that is approx. 50% larger than stock.
 
I'm using the stock snorkel, just the baffle removed. So, it's pretty stock except for the exhaust and factory PU kit, which virtually everyone uses. I think the bike has plenty of power for what I do now; I just want to get it tuned to the new setup so I'm not running too lean. I don't expect to get a horsepower monster out of this, but it will be interesting to see what she turns compared to the advertised HP. All I've done for the test is to clean and oil the air filter and change oil and filter. I'm using the Spectro Racing semi-synthetic as recommended by George at Uptite. There are all kinds of simple things to do which will boost the HP for a dyno run, but why not see what it is the way it's normally operated.

I'll bet you get 45mpg with proper mapping.

No problem on the map sharing. Dynojet will be publishing for my setup so all should see what they did. I have several rides in Colorado this summer so I should get a good idea of what it does in that environment. I sure hope I can achieve 45 mpg.

No tuner now, and I beat is set to 100 as I recall, but then I didn't do the I-beat myself. Yeah, I can believe it about the dyno. I seldom get near the redline, but I know they are going to, again and again, and.... Won't hurt the bike though (I hope!). That's giving it the old smoke test.
 
I'm sure Dynojet knows this but if iBeat isn't set at 100 the resulting map will be skewed (and useless to anyone else unless they have iBeat set the same). I could loan you my iBeat cable if you want to check yours. Maybe Dynojet has access to iBeat...

Good info Dynobob. I have iBeat and the cable. I'll check with my fellow 630 rider here and confirm that the settings were 100, but I'm fairly sure that was the case. I have an issue here in that my computer is 64 bit, not 32, and so can't use the disc without borrowing someone's older unit. I think I'm fine but I will confirm one way or another.

Ken confirmed that your settings were all at 100. I only reset your TPS. I thought I was done spending on my bike but depending on your results I might have another large purchase. I'm happy with my bike as is but a power increase with a boost in mpg would be too tempting for me. Only reason I haven't added a JD Power Surge is fear of negating the extra range of my Safari tank with decreased mpg.

Make sure you bring the TE to the Junction ride next month also. Dyno hp numbers are one thing however butt dyno and power delivery will sell me.

Thanks SilverBullet. Wasn't sure if you wanted to be "identified" or not. At 100 and good to go!

The Junction ride is put on by the Motorcycle Tourers Forum, commonly called MTF. www.mctourer.com It's a group of mainly serious riders interested in everything from trail riding to long distance work. They won't be a fit everyone, but for me it's a fun group.
 
Boy I screwed up today! I had some time so I wheeled out the 630 and put on a new D606 in preparation for my Death Valley ride coming up. I wasn't supposed to do that!! I had a well worn TKC 80 on there and wanted to leave it until after the dyno run. Damn. I just forgot. Best I can do is scrub in the new tire, but I'm sure the horsepower reading will be down a bit versus a road or used knobby.
 
My PCV is on the bike and dyno'd. They guys at Dynojet were great and got right on it the morning I dropped off the bike. Done by noon! I'll have to post the dyno map later but long story short, max horsepower was 43 at the rear wheel although they said it was really more due to my brand new knobby rear. Not sure how much loss there was because of that, but probably not a whole lot. The good thing is that the torque curve is amazingly flat, and the AFR ratio across the entire RPM range is virtually dead flat now. The report was that before tuning the fueling was OK at max throttle, but rich at low and mid-range.

Was it worth the money? I think so. I know that fueling is as good as it gets now, and I will be getting more MPG just about all the time as I am seldom at full throttle. I have not yet had time to check actual MPG achieved at my just completed Death Valley ride but when I fill up I'll do the math and report.

The install on the TE630 looks really easy, especially compared with that for my WR250R. I bought one for that bike while at Dynojet, and the WR requires a LOT more connections. For the 630, the techs installed the unit on the side of the battery case under the left side panel. Very neat.

A heads up, I had mine mounted in the same location and eventually it came unstuck and fell loose. I have it under the battery hold down strap now.

What was their baseline dyno run number? When you post mpg make sure you show pre and post since a wide variance in mpg for owners here.

Also, take a minute to check that the wire harness plugged into the injector isn't being pressed against the throttle body/fuel rail by the main harness. My wires chaffed/shorted/blew fuses after 1000 miles.

They did not give me a baseline dyno chart, and I'm not sure if they have it, but I assume so. I will give them a call and see if it's available.

As for mpg, I have generally figured 45 to 50, and used to have a good solid number, but nolonger remember what it was. I will report on the new number when I have it, and expect modest changes.
 
I'd be interested in seeing how your map compares to my AutoTune generated map. Our setup is about the same except I have a LV pipe
