• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

post your last purchase for your 630

I have a little laser level thing that shoots a laser line out the end. Got it for $10 at the hardware store.
Aligned my rear wheel, put this laser level thing up against the rear rotor and marked where the beam hit my skidplate.
Made a notch.

Also made a notch to mark the sight-line down the rear rotor so I can align the rear wheel without the laser beam level thing.

I love simple tools like this. Well worth the $20.

It's just a block that clamps onto your rear sprocket, and a stick that lines up with the chain. Make the stick parallel with the chain and you're done.

It's a pretty simple tool and it would probably be easy to make your own. But, I'm a busy man. :D

I finally got around to snapping a couple [crappy cell] pics of the recent additions. Trying to budget between tires for the G1K and farkles for the 630 is proving harder than I expected!!! FMF pipe, SME blocks and sliders front and rear, and a wicked new rack system LOL LOL!View attachment 12339View attachment 12340View attachment 12341[/quote

Hi there,

could you please tell me where you bought those red pick up knobs on the rear axle?

thanks very much,

You can buy a front & rear axle kit from Motostrano. But, at least for my bike, the kit says "Husky 630". It does not differentiate between SM and TE. The front axle on the TE is not the same as the SM. Motostrano's kit only fits the SM in the front. The rear sliders fit the TE just fine.

So I got a (laser) chain alignment tool here. Saw it while I was buying oil and was converted immediately. I´d always measured from the end of the swing arm and that´s NOT the same as aligning the chain. I also liked the video showing how to use a screw driver to move the rear wheel back (very clever!)

I bought a can of Flat Black Bed Liner Spray and Blackened out my Exhaust Shields - Love the new look - Also bought a new dremmel bit and cleaned up the arse

Looks great...let me know how the paint holds up to the heat...I want to do the same.

Should do just fine, the shields themselves don't get that hot, especially if you've got it de-catted and richened up a bit.
The cheap wheel paint I used on mine has held up just fine, except for the one time I rode a passenger with fancy zip-up boots, the zipper scarred the heck out of the paint on the muffler shields, so I just sanded a bit and re-shot them. I'll probably end up blasting them and going with some flat bedliner like Eddie...

Heat has not been an issue - Saving an Endo and having my boots come off the pegs and scarping the paint off is another story - Sharpied it for the time being but will need (10) mins to remove, sand and re-spray

RD - Love the looks of your bike man - 5 Star all the way amigo

It's not actually purchased yet, but...... I just talked to Berg at Backroads Moto and he is going to make up a right side rack for my Wolfman saddle bags that works with a single exhaust can and moves the rack in toward the center of the bike. That will let me carry a Rotopax gas can on the right, with the saddle bag over. There is just about the right amount of space saved when the right can is removed to keep the overall width the same as the bags only on the stock racks. The Husky is pretty wide back there, and I want to minimize where possible. With the Safari tank, and an extra gallon on the right, I'm set to do some serious mileage, or serve as milchcow for fellow riders when needed.

Now, I am still waiting on George at Uptite to finalize his mid-pipe so that I can get his exhaust can. If all else fails before July, I will get the FMF Q4, but I really like the Uptite can better from the pics I've seen. Go George!

The wolfman setup sounds great.
I hate to say it, but George is really slow.
He does make some nice stuff though, and then sells it to Malcolm Smith. :busted:

You have pics of the Uptite exhaust? Their webpage is, uh, lacking to say the least.
Unfortunately I don't. I had to do some searching on the web but I did find a YouTube vid on someone that install his can. Small, light, and nicely made. If you do a search you will turn something up. His can is shorter than the FMF, and the sound is good, based on the video.
