    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

PN# 49 CR500 Front forks 1983

On my 83 250 WR that appears to be the spacer that runs through the odo drive. Is that the piece? Are you intending to make a spacer and eliminate the odo drive? I can measure mine for you, probably today.
 
Thanks Pick... however in looking at the parts list it does not show PN# 49 being used on the WR??? I am missing this piece and do not know what the length is .

I'm assuming it is around .400" or roughly 10mm in width but am not sure... front axle assembly/tire as it sits in the forks seems off by this much when I try and center the wheel between the forks. I have a gap on the axle between the end of the larger diameter where it pinches with the four pinch bolts and the wheel itself.

I can machine spacers as needed but would like to know what the stock part dimension was.

I assume that the Odo drive would be the same width...

Yup, that's the part number I came up with. Thanks to you, I just learned something new about Husky front wheels, axles, and spacers! Took me a while comparing bikes to figure this out because... your missing part is a pressed on piece that normally doesn't separate! Here are some pics that should get you going. If you can turn a spacer I think you'll be able to follow this.

1. First pic is probably what you have (pictured: 83WR with odo drive removed).
2. Second pic is what you need (pictured: 82XC, but the spacers are the same here).
3. The spacer is 26mm O.D. and 12mm wide ON THE OUTSIDE.
4. The spacer is "counter-bored" on the I.D. to sit down over the inner spacer so that the total width is 26mm.
5. Last pic is just a comparison of set-ups with & without your MISSING SPACER!! If you look carefully at the one on the right, you can see a line reflection on the I.D. that shows where the inner and outer spacer "nest," and how much extra length your missing spacer provides. It does not appear to hit directly on 6mm or 7mm, but is close. If you just nest them enough to have a total width of 26mm you should be good.

Happy to take more measurements if you need.

I am missing the spacer and will machine one tomorrow in the shop at work...

One question though..why does it not normally separate...?

I'm sure it was purely funtional: They made it a press-together assembly so that the outer spacer doesn't try to roll under your workbench every time you take the front wheel off! The way it is, it's "captured."
 
Another dumb question but I'll ask it... what is the purpose of the two roll pins in the aluminum piece that sits over the bearing... I notice that both of yours sample aluminum pieces sit completely flush with in the hub itself..

Mine never did. It only sits about halfway in on top of the bearing. I have both bearings completely seated and have measured the depth with a caliper...

I have seen other pictures where the aluminum piece with the roll pins also sits out a ways...

Any ideas on this?

If you have any trouble make this spacer, i'm pretty sure i've got
a extra in my Husky part buckets :D

And finnally....whether using speedo drive or the elusive spacer, the front wheel goes to the throttle side with the axle all the way in as part of it is also a spacer (the thicker part that protrudes inward from the fork clamp (bottom)) On the clutch side, the sppacer tube in the pinch bols now gets adjusted inward to take up any slack. tighten the axle but leave the 4 pinch nuts loose and slide inward and center the wheel (front brakes on pump forks...roll repeat etc. Same as process for new Husky to center wheel. then and only then tighten the 4 pinch bolts on clutch side.
