    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Plea for help... JT ALS1 or 2 Peak

Does any one have or know of anyone of somebody who might have JT ALS1 or 2 peak? White would be amazing but any colour would be good.

I destroyed mine in a crash today.... very stupid of me. The pain of seeing the peak in bits on the floor out weighed the blood and dizzyness..

JT ALS 1 was a formed in visor helmet mad by bell for JT. Hunk of junk by even 1980s standards and styrophome coffe cup with thin plastic shell. ALS 2 was full face.

This no BS, I promise and wouldn't joke when it comes to safety. I threw one of those out a couple of years ago. It had been hanging on my garage wall since 92? Reason its in the trash. My daughter wanted to play with it so I took it off of the nail to blow the cooties out of it. While holding it in front of me, waist level blowing it off I dropped it on the concrete floor. A 2" chunk popped off of it!! I looked closer and that 3ft drop fractured it 3 inches or more in each direction from the "chunk out". I wouldnt trust it on my head. I used to drag race and I think our helmets are only good for five years by a Snell/SFI rating by date. Working with fiberglass on trucks I know the older the material, the more likely its gotten too ridgid and prone to cracks. The fiberglass is good but the resin gets too hard and brittle over time. Just my 2c
 
I read in either MXA, Dirt Bike, or Dirt Rider in the last 6 months that the JT Helmet is being reproduced. Not by JT but by somebody else. I'm unable to find the article but if somebody has info I'd be buying one myself.
 
I wonder if it's linked to fact that JT Racing is to be reborn...

I would be interested to find out who is reproducing the helmets. Not only could I get a replacement visor but to get a brand new one would be great.

Anybody else seen the article?

MXA mentioned the JT ALS helmet a couple issues[Sep 2010] ago and said it was painted tissue paper with styrofoam and hoped it wasn't ever made again. This was in the mail entry section where a reader from the UK asked if they were going to be made again. An investor had bought the JT Racing name and hopes to start up the JT name/brand. I willing to bet there will never be a JT helmet made in it's old form ever again. Only vintage riders would wear it and cost to reproduce would be high.

I think you are right... the tooling alone would cost a fortune as I doubt they could locate the original tooling after all this time.

There must be somebody out there who wants to part with a peak. I'd promise to look after it :)
