• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Hey guys! I am finally getting close to completing my 2011 SMS630. I figured instead of cluttering up the board, I would just start my own thread to post up photos, rides and answer any questions you may have about the bike. I will say that despite her shortcomings, this bike has quickly become one of my favorites.

As of right now I only have a few photos, but trust me when I say that there are more to come.

Someone has already asked about the wheels. They are Marchesini forged aluminum. 17x3.5 front with a 120/70 and 17x5 rear with a 160/60, both Bridgestone BT016s. The wheels are absolutley awesome. Not only do they look "money" but they are tubeless, weigh almost 6lbs less than stock (of unsprung weight) and have a lesser moment of inertia. That all translates to a lighter feeling, more "flickable" bike.

Toxic Moto Racing (JR) was instrumental in adapting the wheels from my CRF to fit on this bike. I would certainly recommend them if you need some parts for your Husky or custom work. To get the front wheel to fit required a custom axle, spacer and rotor carrier.

That's a very nice looking rig you got there, sir.
I really like the weight reduction on the wheels, good for performance.

Sweet scoot man - J.R is full on money when it comes to Husky - He has helped me a TON with my 450 and is fabbing me a "RR'esque" Shorter swinger for it right now

Is that 2nd pic in San Francisco by chance?

Very sharp looking Husky SM..

Can you share a bit (photos too) about your license plate mount, hand guards and tank panels?

Thanks, it's actually San Diego.

Sure, the plate is just mounted to the factory rear fender with a couple screws and a frame to finish it off. The handguards are the Cycra Probends with the stealth (I think) shields. I installed some LEDs into them to use as turn signals. I'll take pictures of them illuminated soon.

Saw pictures of your bike in the "Pics of your 630" forum and had to pull my stickers off too. Then I found this forum and found that we both are from San Diego. Didn't mean to copy your style, especially in the same neighborhood. Sorry but I'm gonna have to powder coat my rims black too, can't justify $2K for Marchesini's yet. It just looks too good.

That not only looks GOOD! (You´ll have to do something about getting rid of the brake fluid reservoir on the bar ... and ... how did you get it that c l e a n?)

I don't mind the front brake reservoir. The airbox photos were taken right after a complete fluid flush on the bike.

Those rear blinkers look familiar :p

The only ones to get for this bike IMO. Be careful with that link above though, looks like the cheesy fake carbon ones although not pictured. I of course chose the smoked ones. And, yes, resistors are a must.
