• 2 Stroke Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Italy - About 1989 to 2014
    WR = 2st Enduro & CR = 2st Cross

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

All 2st Part it, or sell it?

I can't imagine that you'd possibly get $5k for a used Husky 2 stroke, even one as nice and well sorted as yours. I think even $4k might be a stretch.

Sad to see you thinking about jumping ship, given how nice and well sorted your bike is.

If you part, I'm interested in some stuff (transmission); seems like lots of interest in that, though.

I'm thinking I'm going to keep together and get what I can.

I screwed up and told my wife it was perfect awhile back. Now she is flipping on me wanting to go to a Yamaha. I think after I sort a bike out and get it dialed I run out of things to do, so I have to get a new bike and start over. :D

Agreed. A new bike 'Build' is fun and it helps to keep you 'Sane'. A few hours in the basement sniffing Carb Cleaner will clear away most of the troubles from the office...

Get that new bike but don't sell Husky.
It's scientifically proven that........

Thanks for all the positive comments. I'd like to keep it, but I'm just a one bike kind-a guy.

I like the sound of 4 G's. You could clean my garage of Husky parts for that.

Well, if you like riding it, keep it. If you just need another project bike, surf craigslist and see if you can find a deal on a vintage project bike. That project would start out cheap and have a significant timeline. In the mean time you could continue riding and racing a well set up bike, rather than buying new and racing an unsorted bike for the first half of the season.

I wanted to do a vintage project, but I just don't have the time. I have a little vintage Suzuki thing I've been working on, but it's not moving forward very fast.

I've said this before, but it's really just this whole KTM buy out thing. I've just lost my love of the Husky. I don't care for KTM. I don't like the direction they are going or that they dropped Husaberg just to buy a different name for their "other" bike. And I don't like the attitude they have toward the "spaghetti" bikes.

I was really proud of this bike, but I've just become disillusioned with the whole Husky thing and want out.

I've had similar concerns - but I feel like I'm drawn closer to the bike because it's unique (even more-so now with the KTM buyout).

My advice - If you're dead set on selling it - wait until all the left overs are sold. You won't make the money you could if you sell now, because people would rather buy new leftover at a low price vs. a used bike - even if it's in great shape. (just my opinion)

make a list of what's it the garage Motorhead!! crate shipping I was told is only about $300 to east coast.

I can't help but think you will be sorry later.
I loose some interest after I get a bike dialed (I have 9 now that are dialed and no wife:) ) but I have so much time and money in them that I can't bear to sell.
Like Kelly says, wait awhile and the price will go up on your bike (if you really do sell it) because the fire sale prices will be a distant memory and the new 10,000$ prices will be the new reality. Your bike will be a bargain at 5000$.

Nah, I'm not trying to make a bunch of money off of it, nor do I expect to get my money back, I just want to move on.

I'm sure I will be sorry, because part of me really doesn't want to do it.

If I was like you and didn't have a wife I'd keep it.

Have you ridden a YZ? I have an 06 and cant really come to terms with the handling of the bike. Feels tall and long and doesn't turn well IMO. And I bought this bike new in 06, so I've had plenty of time with it. This is my dune and dez bike since handling isn't as much a concern out there.
