  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

125-200cc P3 Composites Pipe Guard

PineapplePicker

Husqvarna
AA Class
'13 WR125 with FMF Fatty -

Yesterday, I spoke with a Rep at P3 Composites (the folks who acquired Pirie Performance Products). Unfortunately P3 does not have a pipe guard that will fit the FMF Fatty on my '13 WR125/144. Not yet anyway.

Although their website shows P3 Pipe Guard Husqvarna 125/150 FMF 07-14, SKU 103041, it has not yet been produced. The Rep I spoke with indicated if 10 or more riders showed an interest for this pipe guard, P3 would probably form up a mold.

If any of you 2013 WR125/144 owners want a P3 Carbon Fiber pipe guard, give P3 Composites a call at 304-562-9515, and let them know of your interest. I will send in an email letting P3 know I want their pipe guard. Hopefully enough interest will be generated to warrant a production run.

Keep in mind P3 is working hard to get their production operation up and running. I believe Eric Pirie is working closely with P3.

They have been making them for over a year. They are just out of stock and are waiting for some orders to pile up. You might try Bill's MC Plus. Bryon has had them in stock in the past: 503 585 1153.

I sux to be me. I spoke with Bryon at Bill's about a week or so ago. They don't have one for my bike.
Thanks for feedback!

Edit: I mentioned to P3 the 2013 model Fatty part number is different from previous year models. The rep suggested I send them my Fatty to use for the mold. This makes me think I'm out of luck for now. I think I push ahead and place my order for one anyway, and hang loose until it arrives at my doorstep.

Tried Hall's or MS?
Don't feel too bad, I waited around 8 months for mine. With the new ownership, I suspect orders will be filled sooner. Great stuff!

Thanks P3
Thanks a million!! Sorry for sending you on a wild goose chase. Stand by for my order via your website.

I'm going to give my opinion, for what it is worth, on CF pipe guards. I have had a ton of them, and I must confess, mostly because I think they look good. The issue with them is that instead of hitting an object and creating a small dent, as with no CF guard, they spread the impact load over a greater area. Because of this, the damage can be more complete, as in shoving the whole pipe back, bending mounts, and in general destroying the pipe. That said, they do work well for minor impacts and gravel road damage.

Thanks for input. Yes the CF do look good but with plus and minuses on impact effects. But since I'm no where near the skill level to tackle the serious technical stuff you veterans can, I think the CF will work for me for now. Thanks again for replying.

I personally think they work great. If you hit hard enough to destroy the pipe well you would have destroyed it anyway. Smaller hits it will save the pipe. IMHO.

Awesome you are here and responding. People love your stuff but the customer service has been greatly lacking. This responsiveness is great.

Thanks for the kind words, I have a greater respect for eric now knowing what he went thru just to make one piece. It's not like you can make it and 5 min later take it out of the mold cut it and ship it. But looking forward to being around when I can.

Good luck over there! Nice to hear things are coming around.

I do know what it takes to build them and yes, very labor intensive.
