I am heading on another trip, by way of Flagstaff, Durango and then eventually Wyoming and Montana. As I'de like to be aware of the statutes and sticker requirements have emailed for clarification in a couple of states. I know there is some "reciprocity" between, CA and neighboring states but many times it's unclear in many ordinances and ignorance of the laws is never a valid excuse.
Wyoming does require stickers though on some of it's trail networks. The maps linked are great and easy to assemble and recreate maps for GPS in basecamp, etc.....
"I do not know the route that you plan on taking, but a licensed/street legal ATV or motorcycle is valid and allowed on our roads or routes. The only time that you would need an additional ORV decal is if you plan on traveling/recreating on any of our designated trails, which are a smaller part of the program. They are color coded in yellow on our ORV maps offered in downloadable format at the following link:
http://wyotrails.state.wy.us/Maps/ORVMaps.aspx
We hope you have safe travels and enjoys your trip."
As another thread re: the China Hat get together discussed OR state requirements which in my opinion could be read two ways. I thought it might be of benefit to have a thread with some concrete data/findings with ordinances and good trail maps linked for '13. I like the page I was sent for WY and would be worthwhile having similar for other states. It can be confusing and I hate having to backtrack once in the woods or trailhead to find a sticker vendor.
Please add any Western State links that may be helpful such as what is there from WY.
