  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Opportunity to Purchase 2012 tc250 for $2,000

A Class
Gang, I have an opportunity to purchase a 2012 TC 250 for $2,000 US. The bike has been heavily raced. Last year the bike's engine blew up and and has been completely rebuilt (Bottom and Top end) The person that did the work is a good friend of mine so I trust his judgement and work. The bike comes with aftermarket PC exhaust, oversized tank, extra plastics, etc. The rider of this bike is a big time woods racer and has decided to go to a 2 stroke. I have a 2013 TXC 310 which handles so good, my son took it from me:). My questions are below:
  1. Any 2012 TC 250 owners have any suggestions on questions to ask owner about this bike?
  2. I am weary of having to kick start this on the line (I race harescrambles.) It has a decompression lever and the owner says he son has no problem firing it up with this depressed. (I spoke to the owner for about 5 minutes while riding last weekend and the bike looked nice. I did not have time to ride.)
  3. I have heard the engine has great improvements from 2011. Can anyone tell me how it compares to a 13 TXC 310?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks, Rob

From what I understand, one of the valve clips came off and went down into the case and did some damage some of the parts (not sure which ones.) But the valves, piston, rod, bearings, rings parts of the crank case were replaced. About $1250.00 worth of parts and labor to replace. I will try to get more specifics.
