  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

On the Putoline engine oil wagon

I know nothing about that oil, but if the label is correct it does say Jasco MA2 which as far as I know is a good thing.

I know oil threads are about as lame as it gets , But I just switched over to Mobil1 0-40 (after reading Tinkens oil posts) in my RXV and my bike actually runs better. I alway ran Castrol 10-50 as the recommended oil was Agip 10-60 which was impossible to find.

Putoline is a good oil, and is well know in europe. I also use putoline premix trials oil in my scorpa trials bike cause it smells of strawberrys.

The guys selling it had 2t oil also .. I'll have to give it a try also and see if any anyone notices ...

Nothing wrong with Putoline, it's Dutch and here we use it quite a lot, excellent stuff.

Thats what I was wanting to hear ... :) ... I saw a couple other threads out here where a few guys were running it with no issues ... Its just that in the states, I've never saw it and over here, you never know what you might be getting ..

Putoline? What is that, steamed rice cake oil? Do you wrap the bottle in a banana leaf?

Comes from the salwag trees actually ..

Don't you have 5 bikes? I'd be such a bum with maintenance. I'd ride each one until it needed maintenance and then swap, of course only screwing myself when all 5 were due lol

These machines are an investment also so I'm incline to keep them up as much as possible ... Its seems the 4 that I have access to now sort of get ridden on specific type rides ... Some ridden more than others ...Maintenance is really only oil changes with chains and sprockets to be careful with ... Tires are the biggest issue but I swap the 18" rims and hub (not the sprocket) on the bike I'm riding usually because the 19" tires on the TC models cost about twice as much here ... Can't really say that I can tell the difference with riding between an 18 or 19 inch rim ...

Snow 4T+ 0w/40 is a 100% synthetic 4-stroke snowmobile competition engine oil specially designed for use with or without a turbo, catalytic converter and / or multivalves. It guarantees rapid and stable lubrication even at extremely low temperatures. Due to superior thermal stability under most severe conditions, the oil maintains its quality under high engine temperatures. Snow 4T+ provides excellent anti-wear, extreme pressure and anti-corrosion properties as well as a high viscosity-index for a clean engine. It provides extra protection for the catalytic converter due to a low phosphorus content.
