  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

ok to remove a clutch spring for lighter pull??

2009 Husky TXC 250f with low hours. I was bit by a dog pretty bad last Monday. This left me a ton of damage to my muscle and tissue along with 7 stiches. My arm is weak and I don't know if I can ride but I am going to try and race (leading points). I was thinking of removing either one or two clutch springs to get a lighter pull for this race. Any harm in doing so? If I do, would I leave the bolt out as well or just take the spring out and re-install the bolt??

Some have found that taking two springs and bolts out (opposite side to each other) works well in easing the clutch pressure. Others have noticed some clutch slip especially in higher gears. I would suggest that you have a go, if it works for you then great if not its only a 5 minute replacement task. Good luck

take out two springs on opposite sides, take the bolt and washer out also. i had this set up for 2 years with no clutch problems or slipping. the 250 hasnt enough power to cause slip as far as i have experienced. plus it will feel a lot lighter.

Ran my TXC 450 with 2 springs out for over a year. Much better feel at the lever, never had any slipping issues. Plates looked used (2500 miles they should) but not abused.

Then I put a Rekluse in it and made it even better...
