  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Oil lose from 010 TC250

I've rode this bike a very limited number of miles and today, by accident I glanced at the oil sight gauge and to my astonishment, no oil was in the gauge after it was full just a few days ago ...

No smoke from the bike and it has no oil leaks ...

What? Do all these things loose their oil so quickly or is it just my bike? This machine is baffling me to no ends as compared to my 08 TXC250 ...

Mine hardly ever uses any oil. One thing I did notice after my last oil & filter change, ran it about 10 minutes and after cooling it had to be topped up. I am sure this was due to circulating into the filter and all the cavities. The bike needs to be perfectly level to check level in sight glass, if it is leaning to the left even a little, not much oil will show.
Sorry you are having a difficult time with your bike, though I believe if you continue with the sorting you will love it.

Thanks and I hope you are correct .... I'll price a ring set for the bike to be on the safe side ...

If the vent tube vents to the airbox like the TE and TXC then oil may be being sucked into the airbox at high speeds.

Stick your fingers in the intake boot beyond the airfilter...is it oily?

Good idea but the hose does vent to that location ... Its just sort of hanging out with some filter foam around it ...
