  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

250-500cc Oil Height Screw Size

Husky 2002WR250

Husqvarna
AA Class
Ughh - just changed oil on my 2002 WR250 and finally stripped the stupid oil height screw. I searched forum and found parts manual but does not give the screw size. Can I just get a bolt head replacement at hardware store? Do I need a washer? What size should I get? Is it 8mm as most of bike is??

Thanks

Good timing on this thread.

I just stripped mine. Haven't stripped a bolt in years, having oil on the threads you lose the "feel" of whats snug.

Edit: actually I wish it was the screw, but its the case side. maybe I can re-tap or clean the threads up. Probably have to drill it out/re-tap.

Not sure if its any help but the last oil level bolt I repaired for someone all I did was to drill the hole out and fit a alloy type 5mm riv nut into the case with a tiny amount of epoxy on it first to ensure it never leaked - Worked a treat.

Trying to get enough pre-orders (need 20) to get 7602 to make another run of the 02-14 WR250/300 clutch covers with the sight glass rather than the check bolt.

Initial post here.... http://www.cafehusky.com/threads/wanted-clutch-cover.79105/

The pre-order list is here.... http://www.cafehusky.com/threads/discontinued-item-resurection.79146/

Looks like there are 15 or 16 pre-ordered at this time. If you guys would like to replace the stripped covers, add your name to the list and have the problem fixed permanently.

There are now 18 clutch cover pre-orders... You two would make it 20... the number needed by 7602 to make another production run.:D

No more oil check bolt to strip out and a nice site glass to know your oil level.

I have an 800ml water bottle I use exclusively for gearbox oil. Never need to check oil height just drain old oil and put in new oil, no mess or chance of stripping out bolt.

Thats exactly what I do. Gatorade bottle marked for several bikes.

e2 lemon lime. Had it full of dexron trans fluid on the shelf once and part of me kinda hoped the neighbors kids would take a swig.
