• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

I sent my Ohlins (1982 250 WR) for a rebuild to Parma Dave Racing...and today he emailed to say that they need new seals.

I am really hoping to get these boys back asap, as there is a vintage mx race here in Nebraska this next weekend. Will a standard seal, i.e., one purchased from a seal/bearing shop, work for me?

No standard seals will not work. Ohlins USA. Kit part # 121-99 should have everything you 1982 Husky Ohlins shocks will need as far as seal heads, seals and o rings and piston bands and new C-clips. Be sure to use the Ohlins shock oil. Ohlins phone #828-692-4525. Chance are you won't get your shocks done in time for the race if you are still looking for parts. No I don't work for Ohlins. Sorry, not good news but hope this helps.

Call Drew Smith at WER............Asap. He may be able to help you. You should have sent them there in the first place. He is a member here and knows his stuff. Normally if you need a rebuild the first thing you do is replace the seals and orings if they have them. The guy should have known this before even giving you a price that he could do them.

drew replaces all wear items in a rebuild and and likely has any ohlins stuff in stock ready to rock, quick turnaround.
WER will definitely get all my future suspension work for all my bikes
