• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Öhlin TTX44 shock? Any good

juicypips

Husqvarna
Pro Class
Hay as title says I'm looking at a rear shock for my husky 360 now am about to send sachs unit off for correct spring and a service.
Found a bloke online selling öhlins ttx44 mono shock with correct spring recently serviced for a good price.
Now I'm wondering if it's worth paying 3x the cost of servicing my Sachs that works well or are öhlin really the be all?

Cheers
I'm not the fastest but I'm keen to not use the brake

hard to say if its worth three times...having your sachs properly sprung and valved will be a huge difference if it isnt already. ohlins are top of the line, and do work well. safe to say the valving and construction is going to be nicer than original equipment..

Yeah well the sachs will cost 80 for spring and about 100 for service that is if nothing is broken, the ttx is 2014 and 500 he claims it's been serviced 2 hours ago had 54kg spring on so it's correct for my weight..
I'm thinking I'm gunna go for it, they look dam sexy too

yes, there is a bling factor as well!
my first husky was a 79 wr250, came stock ohlins remote res shocks. mine were beat up so wanting to ride i just bought some "progressive suspension" shocks. they worked much better than the bent and tired ohlins, but were no where near as well made. years later i finally had the ohlins rebuilt and "wow"...so plush...

Ok seeing as your the only one replying, what do you think between the wp trax vs öhlins ttx? Am bring swayed by them both.. like the fact that wp sucks the rear back down in the chop so you gain traction faster.

Am finding out, am after 22mm top mount and 25mm bottom or as near as poss, I can shim or machine linkage and top bearing.. if its close enough I will drop the coin .
A few trax units on enduro news just waiting for replies on measurements.

Just felt the sachs was getting far too harsh in the final part of stroke, it was adequate only one did I manage to get kicked clean off the bike.
Have buggered about with settings and find stock works best for breaking and general all round for gnarly.
Still feel like it should do/cope with more.

i know nothing of the trax unit...if i were investing in upgrading i would stick with ohlins personally...because of sentiment, popularity, known quality, good many people around that service them, etc...

Yeah I'm leaning that way myself, no bugger is letting me know dimensions so I'm up in the air, still got here n hounds on Sunday so will work with current clickers and see if the die is truly cast.

Oh and wp is owned by KTM so make of that what you wish but it doesn't inspire me with confidence.

Right the stock sachs units top mount is 22mm and the lower it's 25mm
The öhlins ttx is top 24mm lower 30mm.
I've bought the öhlins I will turn a mill off each top hat bush in the top spherical bearing.
And turn some deeper top hat bushes for the bottom both extra 2.5mm this will mean I don't have to weld frame or adjust anything from the lower... I've got 50mm clearance on the lower link sides so loads of space to play with.

That said I don't know if the resivour will clear the air box or the exhaust. Honestly I don't care I will make it fit.
Will document the build and fitment and post here.

Not bothered to much about looks in fact I'm going to cover it up with a shock tube and inner tube over the resivour. Only thing that will give it away will be the clickers.
Now plush is what I'm after.

Sorry Just saw this Juicy. I have a TTX and it is awesome! They have 24 settings for in circuit rebound and compression, plus a second course rebound at the base below the spring that has another 12 settings. Some folks think they're too complicated, but once you understand that the course adjustment is a big step and the top rebound and compression is fine tuning, it's s snap.

Well I Dnf another enduro today, effing plug cap!
still i got the sachs fairly well dialed just on those whopped out straights she just wants to dance I can deal with the rumba but she's full on slut dropping on me.
I'm not the fastest as I will argue to any one but I try not to hang about.

The previous owner had it custom made. If I can I'll drag it out today and show you the goods.

Dw I will be receiving one in the next week, like I've stated just got a bit of turning to do then it will be sweet.. I hope.

It's here! Now the work begins only thing that worries me is the length, hope I can get this with pre load, or I could fabricate a lower link knuckle that drags... lol

Strewth they're a fair bit different in length!!
Hope ya can get it to work mate.

I can sympathise with your DNF from the weekend! :(
