  • Hi everyone,

    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

No real point to this thread other than to say that I've done nearly 180 hours on the stock '13 WR125 grips & they're still holding up! Not particularly good grips being single compound(unlike old domino ones!) but I just can't bring myself to change something for the sake of it. Reckon they'll crack 200 maybe even 250 hours. Might outlast the motor haha
 
I'm very particular about grips because I don't wear gloves. Some of the races I run are up to 6hrs long and a really soft grip will make my hands raw in about a third of that time. I once wore out a pair of pillow tops in a single 2hr hare scramble. I liked the originals on my '11 but found them a little soft (pretty sure they were dual compound) and when I replaced them I bought some Domino grips on ebay that are now about 60 hrs old and like new. Single compound and just the right hardness. They give me good grip but not soft enough to tear my hands up.
 
No gloves?!! They let ya race without 'em?

I can't stand the pillow tops & pointy type ones. Half waffle or nothing!
 
They don't care if I don't wear gloves, why should they?

The only time it bothers me is when I get stuck behind a 450 on a hardpack motocross track. I've come off the track with bleeding fingers or thinking one might actually be broken (not yet!) but I'll take that over the numb feeling of wearing them anytime.
 
When I get hot and sweaty I take clothes off, not put them on.

I wore gloves a few years ago during a harescramble because it was wet and cool. Thought my fingers might get wet and really cold. Had to take them off after 15 minutes because they were so hot my hands were starting to sweat.
 
I still have original bars and grips from my 12 wr300, I thought they were dual compound Domino. I tried a pair of the pillow tops winter before last, they were good but didn't last long. Otherwise been getting the Domino from G2 for twice the price, but they do last forever.

Yeah they the dual compounds. Used to have husqvarna not domino written on them but same grip. They're good. My 125 just came with black husqvarna single compound. Cheap thin ones but they've lasted bloody ages so must be hard, tough rubber
 
I really rate the single compound half waffle Domino grips (OEM Italian Husky and SWM). They seem to last well, don't tear easily and yet they're gentle on my hands.
I'd recommend them to anyone.
 
They are great grips the dominos. NC steve s look a bit different to my 2010 450s.
I like the ones that have Husqvarna written on them
I tried wearing no gloves on a mountain bike on the weekend and it was very slippery - hopeless.
I also like wearing gloves with some knuckle protection as ive smashed bones in my hand when going over the bars and punching the ground :o

I've tried just about every kind of glove and I just can't stand the loss of feeling I get when wearing them. Feels downright dangerous to me at speed.

It's like wearing a condom :D
 
Gloves I like, condoms not so much. Good gloves I don't even notice when I'm riding. Have thin, vented ones for summer and thick, insulated ones for winter. No issues, except still get cold hands sometimes. Like everything else, you get what you pay for :cheers:
