    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

ODI MX Lock-On grips

These seem to be geared toward people that are too lazy or mechanically un-inclined to use glue, safety wire or both.
And I don't get the "change grips in seconds" part... what, with more Lock-on grip system grips, for $23?
Can you put other brands of grips on their system or are you stuck using their grips?

I don't use glue, just safety wire, and I've never had grips come loose or turn. Granted, I seldom ride in extreme wet conditions.

After cutting the safety wire, I can quickly use compressed air to remove the grips without damaging them, and reinstall them in the same fashion... and I can cut and fit 4 strands of safety wire to a set of grips in about 3 minutes.

I'm sorry, I'm sure they're for someone... but from my perspective I don't see any advantage at all. I'll stick to my Renthal Kevlars and safety wire.

Buddy of mine loves them and runs them on his bikes. I'll ask him why the next time i see him. He loves working on bikes so taking the time to safety wire is not the issue with him.

That said I'm with Creeper on this one and use the exact method. As you know i do ride in deep mud all winter and NEVER have an issue with safety wired grips (no glue).

Yeah... ask your buddy what the benefit is, 'cause I'm just not seeing it myself.
I know you're pretty picky about grips, as am I... so if you have to use their grips, that's a deal breaker right there.
Even if you can fit your own grips, I still don't get it.

I use Odi grips, but just the standard type, either the cushiony model (on the TE450) or the diamond pattern ones (on the smaller dirt bikes).:thumbsup:

Maybe you could glue and safety wire them to the ODI grips :D I do believe when i asked him in the past he comment was he liked the grips and he never has to worry about them coming loose.
 
I've seen the lock on grips on bikes. they are mounted on little sleeves that actually clamp on using a little allen bolt to tighten them. It didn't leave an impression on me.:excuseme:

I'm familiar with their "mushroom" grips from a few decades ago... they're actually quite comfortable and make excellent DS grips, especially if you have hand issues with more typical grips.

Just invent some grips that when I grab on to them, I go really fast, don't get tired or crash....even if they aren't installed on a bike:lol:

Grips with a large transdermal cocaine/amphetamine patch? I'll see what I can do.

They may cost more than $23... a lot more.

No coke or speed for me since the early '70s... and even then, I wasn't much of a participant. :)
