  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

All 2st Octane?

accidently filled up my gas can with 87 octane instead of 93, mixed up my oil 50:1....half way thru my tank bike started 'not idling' and didn't run as well as earlier in the day....would that grade gas have such a quick and dramatic effect?

thanks!

oh WR 360.....

Yes, it could. The P/O of my 2008 ran 87 octane in it and when I removed the head I found a fair amount of detonation damage to the head itself. I would run pump premium at the minimum in any 2 stroke bike.

All I ever run is the 87 in my wr360, mix at 32:1. This all per my, used to be, Husky dealer! I have tried different octanes but nothing changed for me so went back to 87.

I wouldn't think it would. I would think more along the lines of water or sediment in float bowl. But as stated above, it could.

Kerlinger, have you tried running up two gears higher yet?

Depends on how you ride it and how hard you are at mid to WOT...get some octane booster to raise up the octane levels....seems like the bike is running like it was on stale fuel. Empty the fuel and use it for a 2t lawnmower or something.

We don't have 87RON here....fark it's bad enough with 92 and E10.

My 2st run waaaay better with 1/3 powermist mist with pump premium.

My 144 has a race gas head and needs 50% PW but boy does it run!

Does running octane booster cause problems? I have been told it does, but not sure what they are

I'm not much on octane boosters. The only thing I've ever felt worked was Klotz Hytrate race gas concentrate. Others may have had better luck with them, but I always felt they created about as many tuning problems as they helped, if any.

Agree, unless you get the right ratio's to mix correctly, then you have no idea what the RON rating is for the fuel...best, like PowerKord said, just fill up with premium or no lower thanb 92/93 RON (standard unleaded in Aust.)

lower octane should be ok on lower compression engines, think you should use only premium and jet accordingly, her in oz we seem to need leaner jetting compared with us don't know if this is fuel related but iam running 25 pilot 370 main on my cr125.

I assume you don't have ethonol in your fuel so that would make your jetting a bit leaner. But my experience is that all these bikes are different so it is hard to say if it is the bike or the fuel.

NW, the 10% Ethonol is clearly labelled in OZ but no-one knows what the right RON rating is from the bowser as you don't know how long the petrol has been sitting in the tanks, water contamination etc...even some 98RON fuel's like Shell Optimax is no good for 2t's as the detergents in these fuel's attacks the the premix causing the oil to split faster when sitting around in the jerry can.

Golden rule: run 92 and up and try and have fresh fuel and premix.

I ended up running 50/50 of pump gas and sunoco race gas. runs great now.Clean running too! I use Motul 800 at 60 to 1
