• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

NW Road Trip Ensues....

Great ride w/Kelly and friend this morning at Binns. Did all the upper loop trails till they lost me. Those two are fast and had to be careful not to be led up some stuff over my head. Towards the end I lost them so took a route I knew would get me back, while they scouted around for me. Luckily cell service and some messages and we all met back at the staging area. Kelly's second ride group had arrived and all minus me took off for more fun. Glad the weather changed and made for a fun day

Great seeing you, sorry we lost ya. Ping me on your way back down and I'll show you some of the nicer stuff int he tillamook forest.

Johns very clean TE310 and my AJP PR5. John had quite the setup for fun, looks like a cool trip.

Been an activity packed adventure. Back in Mosier after visiting various friends. Weather is just classic gorge blowing like stink and finally the sun has returned.

First stop Lake Washington foe a few days of 6+ miles of upper body and core workouts...

Next to Whidbey with more of the same plus some epic local trails on mtb...

Back to Seattle fore more paddling and then down to the Gorge. Wind was liquid smoke, blowing over 40 so we did what we do... Downwind run from Hood River to Mosier on our 14 footers.

Recovery day on the mtb, with a mtb climb up Nestor Peak and enjoying the classic Buck Creek single track on the way down...

Today my host is leaving and my trip coming to a close so I need to zig zag through Oregon and get more time in on the Husky. Nice to ride above Mosier over to HR and back (out of Husky Road no less). Mt. Adams and Mt. Rainier in the distance...

Still here... Laundry needed to be done. Scouting some real estate this morning and then a downwind run from Rowena to The Dalles. Want to head up and try and find the FS route from above TL to 23 and Randle. Not sure if it goes out of the snow park above Elk Meadows campground. I usually ride the road to 90 and back by 23 for a bicycle loop but noted last years dual sport wa ride went through there. Maybe more up near Council Bluffs. Any thoughts on that neck of the woods. Been 20 or so years since mtb'd that neck of the woods. Would have been good to joined you yesterday but was a little stiff from my prior days ride. Want to map out a bunch of rides tonight for this week.

Hit the WA backcountry discovery route from carson to trout lake. Also some trails out of trout lake called indian flats (its on maps) fun EZ trail. Trout Lake to Council lake is good too. Endless stuff up there.

Knew I had the route somewhere like on the GPS. In any case cyan and magenta are past loops and the white is the WA Discovery Route. Ride from Northwestern Lake over Nestor Peak to Willard and up...

Explored around a bit... Didn't try the top couple of switchbacks to the Bluff as was tight and rocky. One large tree was easy enough to get around but didn't want to take the risk solo up top.

No snow but a few guys I spoke to when we hit 23 who rode from Missoula and returning, said places they intended to ride and camp had 4 feet of snow.

On my way over to Bend from Salem. Had to pick up one broken signal on a tip over in HR. Of course Bill's had it in stock. Good to see John Byron and Bill. The new Huskies do look good. Tempting for next year maybe. The shop is really well stocked including all the plastics for our bikes. Worth a stop when traveling through Oregon.
