• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Nov 2018, should I get back in the 610/630 game now?!

I owned a 2009 TE610 a few years back, which I remember fondly. Near the end of ownership, I was getting a bit nervous about future parts availability, and moved on to a FE501, and also a 350xcf.

Just recently started thinking a DS would be fun to have in the stable and the red huskys came to mind. Still seems to be nothing that competes with the 610/630 for anywhere near the money. I have located a couple of low miles used ones, and am kinda shocked to see the value has probably, if anything, crept up a bit since I sold mine in 2014.

Anyway, how's availability of parts and accessories these days? or am I crazy for thinking about paying basically near $5k for a 8-10 year old Italian stallion? Web searching for just a slip on muffler has been fruitless...makes me a bit nervous

Thanks for the advice!

Think SWM they are a slightly updated TE 630 and are brilliant value for money. Love my RS650R now have 8000 kms (5000 miles and not one issue-75% off road-some of it single track).

Nothing beats a 610. Goodies are out there, you just have to look deeper than the first page of Google.

true. i think it is down to about 3 shops that are really on top of what's available for the 610/630, y'all being one. the aftermarket seems to have moved on from these bikes somewhat. FMF is not making slip on for it anymore, etc. which is a shame cuz they are a great capable DS platform.

I reeeeeally liked the 610 I had a few years back, but I just snagged a deal on a slightly used 690. hope it can live up to my memories of the 610!

My buddy just got a 630 for dual sporting.
He only keeps bikes for about a year, and he says this is one of the nices bikes he's had.
( including a 690 he sold two years ago )
I started dealing with a new Husqvarna Dealer , and found all the parts i needed for by WR250 frame off restoration, parts for my TXC 449 and my SM610.

I'd say go for it!!

thanks guys, took the plunge on a KTM 690. seems like way more aftermarket support for the KTM but I still think the 610 is hard to beat for a DS!
