  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

No more rear disc rattle

huskyte310

Husqvarna
AA Class
I got tried of hearing that rear disc rattle so i unscrewed all the screws from the disc and removed the little puck retainers that hold the disc in place. I then filled the groove of the pucks with black silicone and assembled right away. Let it sit over night and your ready for a rattle free ride.

This is awesome! I just took a picture of my disk and was going to post about the annoying rattle and found this post.

huskyte310 can you PM me the name of the black silicone you used? Ran it by the hubs and he wanted to make sure we got the right stuff. Thanks!!!

decent idea, I may try it at the next tire change...however, the only time I hear mine is when it's being pushed in the pits/garage...never hear it while riding.

Ditto. Don't hear it at all unless warming up on perilous kickstand.

I never heard it riding but every one else did. Loading and unloading. Just anoying and you don't even have to take the rear wheel off. Easy 10 to 15 min. fix.

Thanks for posting this huskyte310. Thanks to this thread I was able to figure out what that annoying noise was at the back end of my TXC250.

Hi
My bike is from 2010, 13.700 km and I wonder if this gap / looseness is normal.
And could it work to fill the groove with silicone yet?
Thank you

That seems a little excessive. You should only be able to hear it rattle when you grab it vs. seeing it move like that. You might need to replace your rotor. The round cutouts in your rotor might be excessively worn or the inserts are worn out. image.jpg I just recently replaced my rotors and mine had almost zero play after 2600 miles. I ordered replacements from motosportz and they are not free floating like the original. image.jpg

Hi
Do you know the spare reference number for the not floating rotor from motorsportz? Is it just "plug and play"? I'm afraid I need also new screws. Am I right?
I don't know if I can get it in Spain and that's why I ask you the reference number

Thank you

I bought mine from Mike at motosportz here on cafehusky. He sold me the new bolts that work with this rotor. I did have to shim the rotor out with some zinc plated washers. The original floating inserts are offset to allow the disk to be centered in the caliper. When I installed the new rotor, I found the rotor was inboard about 1/16" of an inch. Shimming it out with the washers put the rotor exactly where it was before.

I tossed the bags for the rotors that had the KTM/Husqvarna numbers on them. Here's a picture of my invoice. IMG_0028.JPG IMG_0029.JPG
