  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Next Generation Husky 450

Husqvarna
AA Class
Anyone have the inside scoop on when we will see a new 450? All the reviews I am reading about the new 250 realy have me considering chosing one over a new 450. Need to spend my Husky bucks before the end of the year. Im very happy with my txc 450 except for the weight, every time I get beat by someone on a Honda, Yamaha or KTM I think to myself "I should get a bike that is 30 pounds lighter and see how I would do".:banghead:

Im a big guy and the Husky fits me good so I will stay loyal for 2010 but we need a new offering from Husky real soon. Looks like the technology is there Husky just need to put it in a package anywhere between 350 and 450 cc's.

apples to apples all the E-start off road bikes are very close in weight. Compared to the CRF or KXF yes yours weighs a lot more, it has a lot more stuff.

Your right though, a 450 based on the 250 downsizing program would be awesome.

Just curious what your observation might be on the size of riders winning races. In most racing the riders seem to be smaller than average, stocky in some cases, and if they're tall, they're wiry.

Guess I should have clarified, my txc has been striped down to basically a TC except for the 6 speed trans. The bike starts so easy I dont see a need for the e-start. I will be purchasing a TC for 2010.

Sure seems that its an advantage being on the short side for the simple reason that in the attack standing position there is less bend in the shorter riders legs. Anyone can stand all day long with strait legs but as the rider gets taller and the standing position becomes more of a squat your legs burn out, Im 6'6" and 240# so Im at a huge disadvantage to start with. As the terain gets more technical my size becomes less of a dissadvantage. I have quit using my size as an excuse for lack of performance though, all any big guy has to do is watch how David Knight gets the job done:notworthy:

6'6" and 240#? I'll make sure to bring you along to Baja as a body guard!

A TXC450 shouldn't feel any heavier to you than a new 250 would to me at 5' 8" / 175#.

If I was as big as you I'd be on a TXC510 with a 530 kit.

That's funny. I was just watching a link to the endurocross and worcs and thinking those guys are big dudes. They can just pick up their bikes and toss the front end around especially in the rock garden at endurocross. Seems like the taller riders have more leverage over their bikes. Of course all this coming from a guy 5'7" with a 30" inseam.

If you look at the top MX boys they are all pretty much cookie cutter in size, weight and shape. That is circa 65 to 80 kgs. Huge difference in a race. But, as said in the tight technical stuff where you have to actually manhandle the beasts a bigger stronger guy comes into his own.
I do not honestly know the weight disparity between the TC 450 and the KTM Yammy Suzi etc of this world, however the engine in now older technology and this is where most of the weight dwells. A new motor must be on the boards by now and marketing positioning alone will suggest a 2011 follow up of the new 250 motor with a revised 310/450/510 motor.

I think a lot of riders let there ego get in the way when they are chosing a bike. Most of the time guys are on bikes that are to big and heavy for them. If I was only racing enduros I would be on a 250f, even at my size and weight. I have raced 250f's in all types of events and find that they are the most fun to ride but just a bit under powered for me at higher speed Hare Scrambles and WORCS races.

Motorhead- you have a valid point but why should anyone have to muscle around a additional 30 pounds if they dont have to? I always tell my 180 pound buddies to strap a 50 pound bag of dog food to their backs and see how nimble they feel out on the trail:lol:

A friend of mine is 6'7" and 225 and he likes my son's 2010 TC so much he's selling his 07 Honda 450R and getting one. He's way faster on the 250TC than he is on his 450R. He said after a few laps (MX track) he's fighting the 450R and just blasting and having fun on the TC250. I do agree that the 450's are more bike than most can really handle and most riders are actually faster on 250's. Heck I am faster on my 08 CR125 than I am on my 09 TXC510 LOL.

I think their next bike should be a 350 not a 450. As long as there is demand for a 450 keep making the current bike in TXC form. For desert heads keep the 510 around.

Ill second that. I think a light weight 350 with about 45hp and goog torque would be the ultimate all around bike.

I wont be surprised if the next generation TE450 uses the BMW 450 motor. No proof of this, just a hunch.

Like i have been saying for years now I ride a CR 125 in the open class and have NO
problem racing and sometimes beating the big open class bikes .I do have a TE 510 and a WR 250 but the 125 i use the most .I have yet to find a hill in a race where i could not make it on the 125 .If ever get a chance to ride a husky 125 you might just switch
BIGGEST plus the 125 cost about 1/2 as much as a big bike yet collects the same in Husky bucks maybe more since i do better on it
