  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Hi All,

Just fot my first Husky! TE449 but made it a supermoto! Few questions....
1) What is best gearing setup for supermoto front and back sprockets?
2) Are there any mods that I can do to help performance? Air filter, etc?
3). Any other tips would be greatly appreciated. I have already used the jumper to acces Race II set up. Full FMF 4.1 with mega bomb.
Thanks!

Get the JD tuner, probably better than playing with air fliters, etc. Can't help on gearing, my TE is still (and will remain) for dirt.

How do like the 4.1 pipe ? I bought the 4.1 slip-on for my 511 originally but found out that it didn't match up with the stock header pipe. I exchanged
it for the Powercore 4, which I'm very happy with but man.....that 4.1 looked pretty bad assed. So you got the 4.1 header pipe and a Megabomb muffler? Or
what is the mega bomb ?
As far as other mods goes... as AZ already mentioned get the JD Tuner. Best thing you can buy for performance enhancement. As far as gearing goes...
I don't know what to say..I would guess that the close ratio gearing probably sucks for street riding. I'm curious, though, about the SM's that are sold in
Europe and just about every other country but the US. Do they have a different (wider) tranny than the TE's ?

4.1 is awesome! Check FMF site for the mega bomb. It is a titanium header with basically an expansion chamber. So the JD tuner is the way to go?? Better than the bazzaz and power commander?

I throw a set of sumo wheels and tires on my '08 TE510 during the summer to ride back and forth to work. I use a 14T front sprocket and 42 rear. I tried a 15T front and it lugged too much and used too much clutch. The stock 13T winds up the bike too much. Not sure what exactly you would need for the 449. Front sprockets are inexpensive. It's a blast to ride. I only have a 10 mile commute on surface streets, I DO NOT like maintaining the high RPM's on the freeway and the bike feels "floaty" doing longer periods at high speed. I had the power up kit installed by the dealer way back when, and the bike has more power than I need. Your bike looks sweet in your avatar! Here in San Diego county we had a massive power outage for quite a while in September and it was taking co workers 3 hours to get to the next town over due to all the traffic lights being out and loooong lines of cars. I just zipped between them on the Husky, it was sweet! Enjoy your new bike.

Here's my TE510 in sumo trim, it looks a little different now, but basically like this

Dirt trim

Inquiring minds want to know what this is????
