  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Newb to the Husky ride, a couple of questions

Gidday all,
New to the forum. Craig from Brisbane, Australia. Recently upgraded my DRZ400 to a TE449 and having never owned a Husky before got some questions, some of which I have anwsers for from this forum.
  • Oil overfill - experienced that and now know why.
  • Bike cutting out going down hills - experienced the bike stalling numerous times when going downhills with the clutch out under engine braking. Any ideas??
  • I get a tapping noise when under Revs. It sounds like plastic hitting something. Only happens under revs. Any ideas??
  • Suspension - does anyone know the standard suspension setup on the 449 (clicks in, click out)? I have the owners manual and a parts manual but I can't find a service manual on the net?
Cheers
Craig

Woohoo another Aussie :)
Yep overfill on these will leave an oily mess on engine, just from what I have read on here and from mates 511's fill to bottom of site glass and it should be better :)

I'd try bumping up the idle a bit and see if that helps with the stalling :)

Jump on the thread above for the service manuals and enjoy the ride

Cheers

Noise can be the cheap plastic chain guard on top of the swingarm. Im looking for an alternative to the one on mine right now.
Welcome to the 449 club!

Not often this has happened but noticed / felt a bump , like if someone tapped the frame with a wooden baseball bat... I have felt this " bump " about 3-4 times and happens under a good engine load.... I even pulled my swingarm thinking the right side was flexing the frame driving swingarm into case.... Still not sure
